The chair and CEO of Denver-based Oak View Group, the final firm in consideration to develop LSU’s new $400 million arena, has been indicted by the U.S. Department of Justice. He’s accused of participating in a “bid-rigging scheme” tied to the development of the Moody Center in Austin, Texas.

It’s currently unclear how the indictment will affect LSU’s arena project. Daily Report this afternoon made efforts to reach the following individuals for comment but had no success: LSU Athletic Director Scott Woodward; LSU Board of Supervisors Chair Scott Ballard; Keli Zinn, executive deputy director of athletics and COO for LSU athletics; Charles Landry, an attorney who has been hired to work with LSU on the arena project; and LSU Interim President Matt Lee.

Well I for one am shocked that we went with a company accused rigging bids. That's just not the state of Louisiana that I know.

According to media reports, Tim Leiweke, the indicted Oak View executive, is alleged to have “entered into an agreement with another potential bidder for the [Moody Center] to drop a competing effort in exchange for lucrative subcontracts.” That other potential bidder is Legends. Leiweke allegedly bragged in an email to another executive that he’d been “very clever at putting together a partnership that scared everyone else away” from bidding to build the arena. In the end, Oak View didn’t award any subcontracts to Legends

Ouch. Always push for an LOI when making these fraudulent agreements

If he’s been indicted for bid rigging, he sounds like the ideal candidate for work in Louisiana.

Somebody at LSU is pissed, and maybe a little nervous.

You can’t be serious. PMAC is terrible from a fan perspective. Zero premium seating/club seating. The arena is round, needs to be rectangular for better sight lines. And it’s not used for concerts and other revenue streams throughout the year.
All the concourses suck, the designers of the bathrooms in the build ing should be shot on site. Worse designed bathrooms ever and not able to handle the big crowds

Louisiana has absurd process where lowest bidder can be a homeless man using a shelter for his business address. All we care about is who’s the lowest.

That’s how a company of Alabama fans did Tiger Stadium expansion. Instead of a local company doing the work with pride.
