Depends on what you want. I personally prefer a more low-key, less crowded experience so I lean towards Pass Christian (Hotel Whiskey). If I want crowds, gambling, lots of restaurants I'd stay in Biloxi (Beau Rivage, White House, etc...) Then you've got places that fit the in between (Ocean Springs, Bay St. Louis).

We’ve stayed at an assortment of places from Waveland to Ocean Springs. My favorite is an Airbnb in Waveland that is no longer on the platform. It is/was a beautiful space, overlooking the GOA, just steps from the beach. At the time we were there (2016), not much was happening in Waveland. My usual preference is to stay somewhere we can ditch the car during our stay, and walk/bike everywhere. BSL and OS are the towns which most fit those parameters.

The Roost in Ocean springs is one of my favorite places outside of the Beau/Hard Rock

You can walk or rent a golf cart and drive to everything in downtown ocean springs. Very cool little set up they have

Pass Christian Inn is a great little spot with Bacchus Restaurant across the street. Love it.

I'll second The Roost if you don't want to stay in a casino. There is also a new boutique hotel on Gov St. in Ocean Springs called OS Hotel. Just opened but may be worth a shot.

The Roost, Beatnik, Springs Hotel are all great spots in Ocean Springs. Won’t need to get in a car

"Honestly"?

Been to Bay St. Louis or Ocean Springs lately? Very nice.

But you seem to have an opinion, so you do you.

Ocean Springs looks like a muddy lake. Sorry but it has no aesthetic appeal at all compared to the beaches of the FL panhandle.

The MS coast is sailing/boating/fishing…not beaches…unless you have a boat to access some good ones.

That’s ok for a niche group of people. But that still isn’t going to attract the general tourist crowd from all over the country.
