Ours is as flawed of a nation as there is, but it’s the greatest that has ever existed.
The signers of the Declaration of Independence had plenty to gain, but they had everything to lose. Those boys had some big balls.
I’m proud to be an American. If you don’t like it, you can kiss my red white and blue arse.!

If you truly know history then you know that July 4th probably shouldn't be independence day. Technically the declaration of independence was voted on and signed on July 2nd, 1776. It was in effect then. They just announced it to the world on July 4th..

They did this so they could have a 3 day weekend dummy.

Wrong.
Most signed August 2.
The motion to declare independence was voted on July 2 but the actual written declaration was adopted and voted on by Congress on July 4.

It wasn’t signed until August
They had to wait for New York to change their abstention to “yes” then they had to make the famous copy that we all know.
They couldn’t add the “unanimous” at the start of it until they had all 13

To get even more technical, there’s a belief that Thomas McKean didn’t sign until 1781

It was truly a miracle that the United States came to be. Thanks to our founding Fathers for their genius and thanks to the people who made it happen. Thanks to almighty God for his divine providence. We are truly blessed to be Americans.
