Out of these 3 who do you think starts this season? Or is there another edge out there who takes the job?

Excited to see the D-line this season

Guess I need to study up on the depth chart. I expected Reliford and Payton to start

They are all going to play I think. Payton is a pass rusher. Pyburn is a monster run stuffer DE, if we get any QB pressure from him it’s lagniappe.

They will rotate the 3 to keep them fresh.

Reliford, Payton, and Pyburn sounds like a law firm

And with LSU's strong billboard game it could make for an easy marketing campaign

Maybe it will be something of a rotation? DT and DE are the best positions on the field for a rotation. Pyburn said he wanted to get better at rushing the passer.

I'm also excited to see the development of some of the younger guys like Cobbins, Carpenter and Jackson.

There was a thread I can't find now that mentioned Payton as a late 1st round pick in a mock draft...I saw that draft also. I can't say I have really seen the guy play since FSU was a dumpster fire last year and more like Saturday morning cartoons than a FBS football team. Having said that, he was incredibly highly regarded in the transfer portal and hoping to compare him to another transfer related to FSU. Remember Jared Verse who came to FSU for 1 season I believe from Albany College. Verse lived up to the hype and then some as a dominant college player and is playing with the LA Rams now. Patrick Payton may be this year's Jared Verse....fingers crossed.

Pyburn stated at one point is here because he wants to be an every down player all of these guys are gonna get significant time all season and I would expect a lot of rotation especially game 1 where players are settling back into game speed

All I know is that Peoples is going to feast with these guys. One of the best in the business with the talent he has on the roster is going to be a beautiful thing.

Starting isn’t as important anymore. Most teams would ideally like to rotate guys to keep them fresh, but I do think at least 1 or 2 will get playing time.

I think the reason Payton ate it up so much as a freshman was that JV was on the other side. I hope he’s worth the hype. No matter how bad Fla St that shouldn’t have affected Payton’s numbers. I’m sure he was doubled teamed more after JVs departure much like Verse’s year prior.

All I know is that opposing QBs are going to hate our Dline. We're going to wreck shite this year!

Everybody is worried about Clemson Dline/DEs killing our Oline, which may be an issue. But, I think we'll be on Klubnik like stink on shite and take him out of his comfort zone

Some Patrick Payton stats:
2022 RS FR was ACC defensive player of the year.
2023 44 tackles...14.5 of those for losses...7 sacks...2 forced fumbles...10 pass breakups
2024 35 tackles...11 of those for losses...4 sacks, 3 of which were against Clemson...and a blocked FG against Clemson

My GUESS is a major part of FSU's problems last year was the moral was in the gutter when things clearly went south after missing the CFP playoffs the year before with the "reason" being their QB got hurt. In 2024, they went 2-10 and in Payton's case his best game by far was against their best opponent by far.

Yea DT will be rotated a lot as well. Dom and Breaux back with another year of development, Guillory coming back, and then 2 transfers. Curious to see how Goodwn translates to the SEC and Mitchell is a mountain of a man

Then there’s shone Washington who played last year along with 3 freshman. That room is sooooo deep now

All we really need are two to be above average, one very good, and one All-SEC level, and our D will be light years better
