His uncle was a really good boxer in the 1960’s. Big dude who won the La Golden Gloves title of I’m not mistaken. He got his athleticism from his mom’s people. At least that’s my understanding.

Love Big Ben and love Keith Whitley….Keith died at 34 in the mid-80s a talent taken way too soon.

It’s always been known that Ben is a great singer. Not many people would remember this put he put on a free concert one time in the quad where he sung some Sly and the Family Stone and Meters songs and it was amazing.
