Yep, traffic is even going to be worse than before as hard as that is to believe.

This is a political stunt by Landry. Out of sight are the allowances for exceptions in the new policy.

I don’t necessarily disagree with certain exceptions being allowed, but strict requirements should be applied. In my agency there have been, IMO, a good number of folks granted exceptions. And it’s being applied inconsistently. If you know the right people consider it done.

I can’t fault my co-workers for taking advantage of it. It would be interesting for someone to do a public records request 6 months into this and see what the exceptions numbers are. It may not be as big as I imagine statewide. But based on the numbers just within my relatively small office it’d be interesting to see.

Not to mention allowances for medical exceptions. Not arguing for or against those. But is it an easy way to grant an exception illegitimately then hide behind HIPAA if anyone asks “why”? IDK.

Anyway, my early morning vent. Thankfully my office is close to home, and I work with a great bunch of folks. So I’ll whistle while I work!

Isn’t this the first amendment in Louisiana’s constitution?

I don’t know. Speaking just for my office, post-COVID a lot of people who did not telework prior were able to continue telework at least on a 2-3 day schedule. I’d imagine it was similar statewide, but I don’t know. So the percentage was surely higher until today. With exceptions it’s still going to be higher than pre-COVID.

Telework is not all bad, including in state government IF it makes legitimate business sense, can be monitored appropriately and competent management exists. Unfortunately those factors don’t always exist. In our main office, while additional office space is actively being sought (including rental of private buildings), some people are having to double-up in cubicles. That’s not a positive work environment IMO. Plus that’s an added cost for an already strapped state budget.

Yet we regress in spite of the technological advances we can benefit from. All for political gain. Government.

Some state government departments didnt have offices to go back to because they were leasing prior to 2020. So now the state is going to have to pay for all these people to go back to the office so Landry can be a kiss arse

I think there should be a camera in their offices so we can make sure our tax dollars are being used wisely.

Everyone should have a camera in their office to see if their salary cost is worthwhile.

My tax dollars aren’t paying for everyone’s salary.

Pretty much same for my wife. After the Covid work from home mandate ended, her small group found they actually were just as if not more efficient working from home and were allowed to continue doing so until today.

Same with my agency. Some people got 2-3 days of telework. My specific office, we only received 1.

During the one day we had to check in via email in the morning, and document what tasks were performed during the day in a log.

My telework days were my most productive because I could focus on whatever project I was doing without being called away from it like I am at work.

Why is there even a possibility of a state worker being able to work from home? I thought our tax dollars went for useful things like building roads

Hard to build a road working from home

So this is only about you? Someone is paying for everyone's salary. Shouldn't they know if their money is well spent?
