Project Hail Mary Trailer - spoilers from the book inside

Looks pretty good. I kind of wish they wouldn't have shown anything to do with Rocky. Rocky showing up in the book was a shock when I first read the book. I had no idea an alien would be in it.

All in on this one! Really enjoyed the book, better than The Martian I think.

PHM, the book, was ok but not as good as The Martian. We'll see how the movies compare.

I was pretty surprised they showed Rocky as well. Also surprised at how muh time it looks like they are going to spend not on the spaceship/on earth.
I am really pumped for this and think Gosling was a great choice.I guess you have to give the audience some idea of what you're getting into but that was a lot for one trailer. Had I not read the book, I would have rather been surprised there was an alien. That was one of the great parts about the book.
Really curious as to how they are going to depict Rocky overall though.

The hope is that he's as endearing in the movie as he was in the book.

I started the audiobook based on the trailer. So, a bit of a bummer that some things are spoiled, but I’m only about 3 hours listening time and I freaking LOVE this book.

They should have stopped the trailer when he said there was an incoming object

It's been discussed here before, but it's really an elite audiobook.

I clicked on that trailer so damn fast when I saw it. Super excited, especially with Gosling. He's got enough serious and comedy to make the character really match with the idea I got from the descriptions and monologues of Dr. Grace

Started reading this based off the trailer and discussion on the M/TV board.
I appreciate including Rocky in the trailer. He's obviously a primary character, and I don't see any reason to hide him from the marketing of the film. There are a lot of people who don't want aliens in their Sci/Fi, so, if they were going expecting another Martian-style story, they may be disappointed that Rocky was in the movie.
Anyhow, I'm about 80% through the book st this point. I'm *really* hoping that Weir can stick the landing. I'm certainly invested.

Oh yeah.. you’re over the difficult part of the book in my eyes, I glazed over at all the space jargon and physics
The ending is one of the best endings to a book I’ve read in a long time. I think about it often months after I finished it

I was so happy I was splitting between the book and the audio when it came to Rocky. Added a whole new depth to the story and when I’d read at night, I’d hear it in my head and it would really expand the book to me.
Also one of the few books I’ve read recently that made me laugh out loud at times

Just finished it.
And yes, I agree. Solid ending.
Not what I expected, but solid, regardless.

Yeah it was super satisfying. My wife and I are listening to the audiobook together now and it's just as good the second time around for me.

Looks baller.
Possibly the best book I have ever read.
They did certainly spoil the best surprise, but movie trailers always do that.

I'm really interested in how they handle the dialogue between Grace and Rocky. I hope they handle it similarly to the book. Start out with it being the musical sounding speech. Then, as the movie progresses and Grace starts understanding completely, have it just become regular English.

I listened to the audiobook so I expect the actor to have the reader’s voice.

Just finished the book not long ago.
IMO it’s okay they showed Rocky. The story jumps timelines and he’s introduced fairly early anyway.
Looking forward to the movie

As a cheat, they could have the computer say Rocky's lines out loud as the tones come from Rocky.
