it is by far the worst MI movie.
John Woo just cannot direct a Hollywood movie. Made some decent movies in China, but damn his American movies are hard to watch.

It is not only the worst in the series but was noticeably omitted with any flashbacks in Final Reckoning.

I agree it’s technically a bad movie, but holds a nostalgic place in my heart:
- opening free climbing scene
- Thandiwe Newton’s fine arse
- the pickpocket racetrack scene
- cigar cutter scene + reveal near the end
- how gross people look white the chimera virus
- Metallica

I rewatched it recently as well. Truth is, there was an excellent story hidden there there but the stylistic choices covered it up.

I would have liked to see Thandie Newton pop up again somewhere in the other movies. Paula Patton, too, while we're bullshitting. Both fine asf.

It's not a great film overall but definitely had its moments. The entire injection sequence was genuinely awesome and the scene where Hunt tricks Ambrose into killing his own right hand man was standout. Zimmer’s score also elevated everything and added serious intensity - especially compared to the absolute trash-tier, embarrassingly bad Giacchino score that followed.

I think it was so bad it basically "scared straight" Cruise and studio. Whatever it was they went on a good run after.
