Besides some family still residing there, these lakes are the only thing I really miss about living where I did before moving. I was a hour drive away (shorter for some) from #'s 7, 3, and 2. I'm a a hour drive away now from any lake that would even come close to comparing to those 3..

13. Lake Maurepas
Man, Lake Maurepas looks a lot like NOLA City Park

I’m gonna have to throw Cane River and maybe Nantachie or Iatt lake on the list. And 15 or 20 years ago Saline lake outside Winnfield definitely makes the list. Just a very humble opinion of course.

Top 30 lakes for what, because a few of them don't belong for fishing. Maurepas included. No Saline or Larto Lake, list is shite.

All top 4 are within 1.5 hours of me with #4 being about 20 minutes away.
I now question this list...
Anacoco is pretty, but it was always a better catfish lake than bass. The bass fishing was always better on Vernon Lake.

I think their goal was fishing in general, it's not a list of best bass fishing lakes.

Some of these lakes absolutely suck for bass fishing. lake Bruin shouldnt be in the top 10 lakes for any species of fish.

The lake that Davy Hite won the Bassmaster classic isn't even on that list.

Lake Bruin
Need to fish it on a rainy, windy day in the summer. Solid in those conditions

Lake D’Arbonne
Super underrated lake for so many reasons. White Perch fishing there is unmatched in my opinion. I've caught a handful of good bass, but good lord the white perch....

For what species? Something doesn't compute.

Directly from the article...
Lake Pontchartrain is a large, shallow estuary in southeastern Louisiana, known for its brackish water and mix of saltwater and freshwater species. It spans over 600 square miles, making it one of the biggest inland bodies of water in the U.S. Though often called a lake, it’s technically an estuarine basin, connected to the Gulf of Mexico through several passes. This setup creates a dynamic environment for fishing. Anglers regularly catch speckled trout, redfish, catfish, and sheepshead, especially near the bridges and shorelines. The lake’s wide, open waters are affected by wind and tides, so conditions can change quickly. Some of the best fishing spots are along the Causeway and near old train trestles. There’s also a rich history here—locals have fished these waters for generations, using both modern gear and simple handlines. It’s a place where fishing is shaped as much by tradition as it is by the tides.

16. Bussey Brake Reservoir
This is crazy to me. I’ve never been and not caught a bass over 4lbs. Caught quite a few 6’s, and a couple 10’s too. Putting lake verret at 6, and Bussey at 16, makes me believe whoever made this list doesn’t know what they’re talking about. I’d drive 4 hours to Bussey, over the 40 minutes to verret, any day.
