Smoke had a pretty impossible task of following Bertman. It’s what DeBoer is about to go through at Bama.

Not impossible at all. Smoke was fully capable but he treated the LSU job like it was a reward for a long successful career. You can’t succeed at the level LSU expects if you aren’t a killer.

I would hope he is welcome to come to campus any time he wants. Honestly, if you think about it, not many ex coaches come to campus unless they are being honored for something.
