Not going to be many championship opportunities at Rutgers. I’m sure he wanted to enjoy this last one.

Presidents are more concerned about academics than athletics.

I ran into him walking around the LSU lakes the other day. He is a huge Tiger fan and probably a Tiger for life.

This one seems to really like athletics.

Good. I remember when LSU was the only school in SEC pushing the vax for football games bc of Tate/JBE

Good presidents know athletic success is great for the university. Great ones know how to invest in athletics to make them succeed.

I think Tate was a pretty good to great for athletics. He turned out much better than I thought he was going to be.

Thats not true but I wish it was

He wasn't pushed out, but he basically said that the level of support changed as soon as Landry took over.

Whatever you think of him, he made gigantic gains for LSU with fundraising and that is extremely important. He also was very visible and supportive with our teams. He was always at the games. He wasn't a guy who only cared about the academic side.

I was worried when we made that hire, but he obviously did some very good things for LSU.

Tate is one of the best university presidents in the history of the school. Just stop.

I’m not saying he didn’t like sports. But most concerned about improving the academic performance of the school.

This place had a major meltdown when he was hired but he seemed like a pretty good dude who loved LSU. They could do way worse and have in the recent past

Think we all can agree we totally misjudged this guy coming in.

He was a good President.

Tate was a good leader. We were fortunate to have him. He was a good hire. It was inevitable he was going to get a better position, though, IMO. Competent university CEO's are not a dime-a-dozen.
