Because we didn’t lose this year…at no point were we on the verge of going home.

I think it's because that team was expected to win a national title, and Wake Forest at times seemed like the top team. This season, there never was a clear top team, and once LSU progressed through it, they basically became the de facto best team just by beating everyone else.

The competition seemed much higher that year. Most teams in the tourney were stacked. This year it felt like Arky was the only really tough opponent.

Losers bracket and because it had been 14 years since the previous one in 2023.

Because in 2023, we hadn't won a title in 14 years and were coming off of an unprecedented loss in the finals the last time we were there.

This time there were none of those factors on top of never facing elimination in Omaha.

There is a crazy alternate universe out there though where we don't come back against Little Rock and this board sets Jay's house on fire

LSU and Wake were both outstanding in 2023, both teams along with a really good Tennessee team were all in the same bracket. Then... we had to come through the loser's bracket and play the championship without Skeenes.

Up until the finals of course, 2017 and 2023 played eerily similar for LSU.

It’s because in 2023, once we saw the talent level of the team in the first 2 weeks it became clear that this was a championship or bust team. This year never felt like “the year.”

We always did just enough to win games but we rarely beat the crap out of someone to where we were saying “woah we destroyed them!”

Anderson quietly had an unbelievable season, but Skeenes was a rock star and there couldn’t be a college baseball conversation without him.

2023 had a bunch of super teams like Florida, LSU, Wake Forrest, and maybe Tennessee. This year it seemed everyone had a major flaw (like ours was the bullpen and we couldn’t score in numbers like we were used to).

In 2023 we were number 1 and Wake had to take it from us towards the end. This year we backed into number 1 towards the end because everyone else lost.

It just didn’t seem like this year was the rock concert like 2023 was, but a natty is a natty.

I was just thinking about how close fricking Little Rock almost came to ruining this magical season.

I think when you have prospects like Skenes and Crews you feel like you need to cash that in with a title.

Many of the top teams were absent from Omaha this year with so many upsets in the regionals and supers.

There were 4 top regional seeded teams that made Omaha: Arkansas (3), LSU (6), Oregon St. (8), and Co. Carolina (13).

Winning that 1st game against Arkansas was HUGE and gave us a big advantage over them going forward. Even if they win the rematch game, I don’t think they had enough pitching left to win the 3rd.

The rain out made things a little interesting from a pitching standpoint but some great performances from Shores, Evan’s, Cowan, and co plus the Arkansas 9th inning collapse in game two set LSU up for a dominate performance in the championship series.

Even looking back at the regionals and super regionals it couldn’t have played out better of a path for LSU.

Regardless, the players had to show up and take advantage of the opportunity and they did up and down the line up.

Everyone contributed and had a moment. It’s was a great and fun year for LSU baseball.

How about Hogs game 2 missed easy double play! Unbelievable but great way to coast into football season!

because 2023 CWS was absolutely loaded with elite teams.....hell, we had Tenn and Wake on our side of the bracket...and Florida on the other side.

I am really happy to get #8. I do think this team wasn't close, overall, to the 2023 team....but we had two elite pitchers for sure...

The 2023 team felt like a team that deserved the title and you knew so much of that team would be leaving, it felt like the last shot.
This team just went and won it. Not that they didn’t deserve it, but I don’t think they needed to win the ship to be a great season. This team had holes and it felt like coaching and elite starters covered them up.

2023 would’ve gone down as the best team to not win a championship . That’s why there was pressure. Thankfully that still belongs to Mississippi state thunder and lightning teams.

Yes. Any of those 4 teams probably cruises to the title this year.

Florida and Wake 2023 were both legit, nobody like that in this years field.
