General preparedness

Given a new potential of war and the hurricane season coming I have three question.
1. What do you have around for preparedness? NOAA radio, every kind of battery, extra fuel, gallons of water…
2. What do you buy more of?
Bullets? Tarps?
3. What do wish you could buy for overall preparedness?
Mobile Desalination plant? A vehicle? Just gets me thinking around this time of year.

I think the best thing you can do for preparedness are things that can make you the most comfortable after a hurricane. I think most things marketed for prep are just a rip off meant to profit on your fears. You know for a fact that you will have to deal with a few more hurricanes in your life.

I want so much that I may have to leave some behind when we have to leave.
That’s the only way to be comfortable today.

For hurricanes i keep ethanol free gas ready to go. For the war stuff I just hope the nuke lands on my head.

I figure if I have everything and self sufficient, then everyone coming after me. So I’ll be the one killed robbing chicken eggs from a prepper.

That guy that lived in Sarajevo (?) when it was an open city in the Bosnian War said some of the most important things were bleach, first aid gear, and bic lighters.

I know of a guy who spends 10's of thousands on prepper items.
So if anything happens im going to go kill him and take his stuff.

Its his dumbass fault for going and blabbing to people him and his wife just spent 20k on food supplies.
protip, if you're going to prep, do it discreetly as possible.

2200W inverter generator and a 5k window unit.
Those 2 things and some gas and I can have cold drinks and a cold bed.

Lots of guns and bullets and castnets. I can catch and killl enough to eat for a while.

Rice and beans are cheap, easy to stockpile and last a long time. Also spam. Besides that guns, ammo, fire starters and water filtration. I would like to add a couple rocket stoves for cooking off grid.

The true OT baller would just buy a second home about 2 hours away on a lake or some farmland or something. Go there for a hurricane.
As said people just go too extreme. A window unit and small generator, a cold shower isn’t going to kill you and frankly the water doesn’t even feel that bad right now. A hot pot of water and a wash cloth on a camping trip will clean you all you need and is super easy to make.
Remember how good we have life every couple years when power goes out, is not the worst way to rebalance your life.

I remind the wife and kids of this every time it happens.
Kids think its fun. Wife finds no humor in it and doesn't understand why I wont spend the money for a whole home automatic generator.

For me it’s really simple: don’t live in a hurricane zone and the rest is just illusion.
If things are down to firearms to protect possessions then you are screwed and only days away from death anyway. Long term Survival depends upon groups not individuals.

Really depends on what you are prepping for be it tetowaki or just a hurricane. For hurricane season I just keep gas on hand and a couple small gensets to keep the freezer and fridge cold. As I have food stash for true shite hit the fan I hardly by any food for storms maybe a few gallons of water in case the water lines get compromised by fallen trees. If you live along the coast you should always have a couple tarps, batteries etc.
