Update: Dave Bautista cast as The Kurgen

A bit more rotund and Australian than I was expecting. Filming finally starts in September so hopefully someone supplies Crowe with some Ozempic as soon as possible.

The Oscar-winner is set to play Cavill’s mentor in a variation on the part played by Sean Connery in the 1986 original film. “John Wick” director Chad Stahelski will oversee the remake, which has a script by Michael Finch (“John Wick: Chapter 4”). “Highlander” is being backed by Amazon MGM Studios and United Artists, which is being run by former Netflix film chief Scott Stuber. The film will open theatrically.

Javier Bardem would've made more sense

Cavill needs to put him on that Marvel diet and exercise plan (wink, wink) and whip him into close to Gladiator shape.

Anyone makes more sense than Sean Connery and he's revered in the role

Russell Crowe could do his weird new accent (That he's used for Greek, Italian, and Russian) and it would make more sense than Connery

And, unless he's playing the heavy, Cavil needs to do the opposite

Kurgan stole the film IMO

Was wanting him to succeed by the time we got to the bald church scene.

Clancy Brown was a decent casting. Also appreciate the free birds at the opening scene.

I have to assume Clancy Brown will at least make a cameo. I'd have him as a NYC veteran police captain to makes an appearance on the crime scene after Wrestlemania and he examines what the hell caused some German guy to get his head cut off in a parking lot.

Pop in for 2 mins, have someone call him captain and mention his kids in the exposition so everyone knows he is not one of the immortals. Theaters would go batshit if he comes on screen. He could even says some really toned down line. ".... Well, I guess it's better to burn out than fade away, huh."and this guy Definatly burned himself tonight.

I also really hope they can somehow re-use Michale Kamen's score. It's epically classic.

Love the idea but not sure Bardem could pull off the physical aspects of the role.

Given Cavill's personal history with Crowe (pre-Superman), this is pretty sweet.

For all the MTVb racebaiters that cry whenever someone voices discontent over a woke recast, I am not thrilled with this recast.

Pedro Pascal actually makes a lot of sense for this role, but I guess that he was too busy doing literally every other movie in existence.

If they stay true to the original character he you can add Egyptian to the list.

Egyptian accents by way of Spain are mysterious enough for anything to work.

Excite for this movie, Russell Crowe has me excited and a bit queasy.

Russell Crow looks like Russell Crow ate Russell Crow.

And got old at the same time.

I feel his take on Ramirez would be interesting..

Never underestimate that guy's ability to make a character work.
