Jay Johnson Appreciation Thread

Regardless of the results this weekend the guy has navigated us to 2 Championship Series in his first 4 years on the job. He needs to be the highest paid coach in America before next season starts.
The program he inherited in 2022 and the program we have now just feel so different.
I know we have tradition yes. But in the NIL/Portal era the guy is just crushing it.
He’s 48. He’s one of the best recruiters out there both at the portal and high school levels. He has the NIL backing. He (in my opinion) is a top 3 coach in the game.
Regardless of what plays out this weekend I think we’re just getting started. I know the college game has changed and the talent may be more spread out but IMO:
The sky is the limit for what the next 2 decades may bring.
Thank you Scott Woodward for bringing in the right guy at the right time.

Wait. I was told it was all Skenes.

Jay makes under $2M a year. Vitello makes $3M. Jay is underpaid.

It's like NFL QB. The highest paid isn't necessarily the best, just the one that signed their big contract most recently.
I haven't seen Jay's contract terms, but I imagine there is an escalator for winning the natty (e.g., will be paid $1 more than the current highest paid coach--Saban had shite like this).
ETA: Given the finances of college baseball (especially after all scholarships can be fully funded next year), it's a better argument that Vitello is overpaid than Jay is underpaid.

He’s a brilliant tactician in very many ways. Much respect.

One of the funniest tropes is the "Jay bought a natty with Skenes, anyone could do that." Leaving aside the wild path they took to get there, Jay didn't use Skenes for one inning in a championship series against a stacked Florida team that already has 2 MLB every day players. He must be really lucky to have won those two...
Even though it seems like an obvious choice in retrospect, the decision to concede game 2 of that series proved his mastery of the big picture. On top of that, he knows how to put players into position to succeed and is pulling in the talent as well as anyone. If we are in fact evenly matched with this CC team, I trust that we have the coaching advantage that might prove the deciding factor.

With the hours he puts in, I’ll take 15 before he gets burned out. He really needs to take a few vacations every year.

He loves it and lives for it. When you skip your friend's wedding to see a recruit, that's when you know he's locked in...maybe a lil too much lol

I will continue to tell this small little story, I just went out there for one fall scrimmage and Jay was a fricking maniac with his attention to every little detail and he seemed somehow involved with every player on the field. He was in complete control of everything going on out there. I'm sitting there watching thinking "we know this guy is an animal in recruiting and if he is really this good of a coach, we're about to win at least one championship with this guy." I fell in love with Jay as a coach right then and there.

The current track of the program appears to parallel that of a bear Bryant/saban comp. We shall see. Jay is an absolute machine.

Only the fan of another SEC team or a drooling, low IQ loser downvoted this post.
Jay is a great coach and a great man. I recognized him from his Arizona CWS appearances but I hadn’t really paid attention to his career…..but listening to his opening press conference at LSU I knew we found a really good one. No matter what happens this weekend, I couldn’t be more thankful that Jay Johnson is our coach
Now bring home #8, Tigers!!!!!
