Iran is not an irrational actor

This argument that if they finally develop the one weapon that they’ve been weeks away from finishing for the last 30 years, they’ll immediately detonate it is crazy. Israel has committed more acts of aggression in the region than Iran, and Israel actually did attack us at the USS Liberty, yet they’re allowed to have 90 nuclear weapons.
If we want to know why Iran hates us, take a look in the mirror. Iran was on an upward trajectory in the 1950s when Mossadegh nationalized the oil industry. Then Operation Ajax replaced Mossadegh with puppet the Shah. Since the revolution, we’ve kept sanctions on them consistently, have armed Iraq and other countries against them, and have tried to influence regime change again.

Correct.
The people in power have the same motivation as anyone else in power. They want to stay in power.
They want the bomb for security and from their point of view it's perfectly clear to see why.
They are bad actors but the leadership does not have a death wish.
Some of the religious nuts say irrational things but Iran is run by money just like everywhere else and much of that crazy language is for domestic consumption inside Iran.

You leave out the reason why they attacked the USS Liberty. They attacked the USS Liberty because they were at war at the time and the USS Liberty was helping their enemy with intel.

Bold of you to quote something the OP didn’t say and then rage at it.

Iran is very rational when supporting terrorism around the world.

Don't forget that we backed Saddam who used chemical weapons on them

We don't talk about that enough. Even without nuclear weapons, Israel is the biggest, baddest motherfricker in the region and they have the United States of America fully planted in their pocket. If any country doesn't need nuclear weapons, it's Israel.
In fact, South Korea is bordered by an impoverished, cultish, nuclear armed hermit kingdom and they don't even have them.
Throughout this entire ordeal, no one that I'm aware of has asked Israel to enter into non-proliferation talks or even consider it. What's Israel's responsibility in decreasing nuclear tensions in the region?
That's a rhetorical question. I think we all know the answer to it.

Those germs came from the CDC. We were supplying them with germ warfare. And then turned around and used that as evidence they were making WMDs.

Mossadegh got closer to the Soviets because he was trying to break free from Western control of the oil reserves. The Iranian people are sitting on a gold mine and they were getting screwed over by the British. The coup happened because of oil, not because of ideology.

Yeah, there's nothing irrational about publically hanging a woman for not wearing a head scarf...
