Family in town and we may do oysters. I've only had the oysters from Chimes (Highland and East), but was curious what other places may have better options?

I saw Bayes Oyster Bar (where Jolie Pearl used to be) is now open, $28 / dozen grilled oysters. Not sure if that's an outrageous price or not.

You must be talking about fried or grilled or char grilled and foreign or frozen oysters not fresh huh as the freshwater in our gulf and heat are not known for quality fresh from the boat oysters in June here and especially now. Might be some good imports from up north but only yuppies eat that now here.

This. I'm old school and am a pretty firm believer in eating oysters during months with an "R" in them-------September to April and those 2 months can be suspect since they are warm months most of the time, especially September.

Oysters in the hot months are not fat, mostly not salty and tend to have an off aftertaste to me.

As for price, the last time I checked a half-sack which is about 8 dozen oysters was running just under $70 and that works out to about $.73 an oyster-------and you have to wash them off before shucking them yourself.

I had some charbroiled oysters at Acme in BR once and they were some of the best I’ve ever had. Covington, too, bf it closed down. Better to than Metairie Acme.

Mansurs are also very good. Mike Andersons use to have the 2,2 and 2. That too was good.
