If tweet fails to load, click here. If the ayatollah falls, this man would be the odds on favorite to take the reins

By the way, Los Angeles has 600,000 Iranian Americans. The most of any American city by far
They *adore* this man
This is what he stands for
1) westernizing Iran and getting Islamic fundamentalism out of power
2) free markets/capitalism
3) restoring Iran to what it was under his father: freedom, beautiful women, modernity

He’s a really decent man. I’ve listened to several speeches. He also has one smoking hot daughter. Persian women are fire.

We’re still paying a heavy price for Jimmy Carter allowing Mika Brzezinski’s daddy and the other commies in his administration to push the Shah out.

The Shah was not popular, which is why there was a massive uprising against him. It just blows our mind to think that some countries don’t accept our way of living and our form of government.

There was some candidate that was elected before the Shah was installed that the US deemed too socialist/communist and he was jettisoned for the Shah.

The Shah wasn’t popular with hardline Islamic fanatics because he didn’t want Iran returned back to the middle ages.

History doesn't exist, apparently

Mossadegh was going to nationalize the oil companies and kick out BP

What Mohammad Reza Pahlavi did in Iran in the years leading up to the mullahs taking over is not something to pine for.
Putting another in charge might not be the best PR move ever.

There’s a great documentary on HBO about the Iranian Revolution. The resistance to the Shah was principally from the hardline clerics and the students. Ultimately, the students allowed themselves to be played by the Islamic fanatics. So an enlightened authoritarian was overthrown only to be replaced by an even worse form of religious tyranny.

Just to reiterate, you’re saying there is 600k Republican Iranians in Los Angeles?

The CIA led coup against Mosaddegh consolidated power in the Shah (this guy's father). This led directly to the Iranian Revolution. It's a textbook example of a disaster from US meddling in the internal politics of another country.
If he somehow seizes power on his own, fine. But the US having anything at all to do with installing another Iranian shah is insane.

Escaped Iran because the American installed leader of Iran was overthrown via revolution? Jeez, who to trust?

People are saying muslims need dictators to keep the people in line
Persians are the one group that would thrive with some freedom. Iran was great be revolution.
