Will come out okay or should I not try?

I'm no expert, but people make it out of bowtie pasta so I don't see how basmati would be a deal breaker.

I guess you could, may have more of a “floral” note to the flavor. I’d make sure it cooks to the same rate of water/stock that long grain rice does, and same times tho…

No doubt, it absorbs the tomato paste quite well.

It's fine, most people will notice zero difference. In my experience, it's less sticky than ELG rice and the grains separate easier.

As a general rule, both jasmine and basmati are fine is any recipe you would normally use standard long grain rice. You're paying a bit more for the aromatics of the rice which you'll be covering, but it's not going to hurt anything.

I've made it with Basmati before and it came out fine. I'd not hesitate to use it again.

The answer to this is the same as for any old school dish: would your mawmaw say she can’t make jambalaya bc the only rice she has on hand is basmati?

I made it with the basmati rice. It came out fine.
Thanks for the comments.

I've done it with basmati and jasmine, since I usually have those on hand more often because I prefer those styles. It comes out great in jambalaya.
