I can't believe he got the hook that quick. Bodes well for us.

LSU wasn’t hitting the ball hard. I don’t get it

He did it so that you can come back and pitch in game 3 or 4.

So down 3 in the top of the second, you concede the first game and drop to the loser bracket?

at this point, all his regular season success, no champions and his window getting smaller with his age. I'm sure he's gotta be feeling some pressure

You don't have to hit the ball hard. One base at a time is all you need. Saving Root for another game. Smart coaching.

pretty sure he knows his players better than you...

Root looked to be a head case out there after things unraveled.

Saving him for later.

Not saying I agree with his thinking, but he obviously did not have his best stuff. Might as well have him pitch again when his stuff is sharper. Arkansas has the bullpen where this game is not over. I like where we stand though

Smart move with Frey coming up. Geakle is better than root. Now root can go tue if needed.

No doubt he does. That may be why he panics so often.

Not really. He looked like a guy who hadn't seen a ball leave the infield yet had two runs scored. He wasn't missing by much. I guarantee Jay doesn't make the same move.

I don't think that's why he pulled him.

Edit: He said 2 righties were coming up and his pitch count. Also wasn't comfortable. Didn't want to lose the game there.
