Trump plans to dismantle FEMA after the Hurricane season and leave recovery to the states. Gov. Jeff Landry is now your saving grace.

The president said states need to bear the costs of their own recovery and if a state's governor can't do so, "then maybe they shouldn’t be governor.”

Gov. Gordon is now your saving grace

They can pass a one off bill after a major disaster.
Anyone in South Louisiana knows FEMA sucks at its job.

FEMA just got in the way of the contractors.

For blue states, this is ... too bad. What a shame.

You are a paid poster so nobody on this website will ever take you seriously on here

The insurance market will be the first to factor in this change, and it won’t be good. After that, we will just have to wait for the next real natural disaster to find out if we will replace coastal towns with tents and outdoor open fire kitchens.

Good. Now maybe people will start getting insurance. I know some assholes that don’t pay any insurance because they know if one hits then daddy Feds and FEMA will come in and pay to rebuild.

So? He also said the White House would directly fund aid recovery.

Shite. I wish i was paid. The days of Louisiana government living off FEMA monies to balance the state budget are over. Landry wants to be like DeSantis and Abbott so bad, well now he can prove his worth. Those governors have their own state funds to help recover from natural disasters.

You don’t think that states can better handle the recovery part ? Much like Dept of Education FEMA is rife with money wasted in house

4cubbie, some of the most consequential legislation has been because of Republicans, for starters civil rights

Give me an example of something FEMA has excelled at in the last 30 years

The better question is do I think Louisiana can? ROTFLMAO. They can't even build a new MS river bridge, fix existing roads and bridges, etc. Already we are paying the highest sales taxes in the NATION.
South Louisiana chose Jeff Landry to lead the state. Now get ready to deal with the disasterous results. KARMA is coming.

Well, after Hurricane Rita and Katrina a lot of car stereo equipment was sold thanks to the $2000 checks they gave everyone for no reason. My friend who worked on commission at Circuit City made a lot of money.

Not defending Louisiana state government, but removing the federal government from the equation helps.
Sure there will still be inefficiency and corruption at the state level but not as much.
