Is travel ball worth it? I dropped $15K on my kid’s team and he’s getting D1 looks

Look, I know it's not cheap, but we dropped $15k this year on my 14yo's travel ball team.
Tournaments, gear, private coaching, hotels, the works. Kid's got a 84 mph fastball and hit .320 in the last tourney.
Already had a scout from Southern Miss say he's "one to watch." Totally worth it to see him living his dream. Y'all think this is the new normal for getting to D1. or the pros? Or am I just flushing money down the toilet?

My buddy says he regrets not doing travel ball for his kid, who's now 30 and still talks about how he could've gone D1. Said his dad didn't care enough to invest and didn’t care about spending time with him. Curious what the OT brain trust thinks.

Certainly has changed. A lot of us were D1 before travel ball irrespective the sport. A talented kid is a talented kid and the attention is a natural result.

Is it worth the money? Guess it all depends on who you are and what price one wants to pay

You should’ve given him $1000 and made him be a YouTube gaming star

I brought my son around to all the Easton Dub showcase tournament events where he hit bombs in all of them...he got his picture posted on all the Easton social media pages and received about 10 free Easton Dub bats...I'm making money and he's getting his name out there!

Get the Tommy John done now - preemptive strike - so he’s ready to fire in AA ball

A scout from Southern Miss? And you believed him?

If you’re dropping money only with the expectation that he will get to D1 then I would say it’s not worth it.
If you and your kid really enjoy it just for the journey itself then it’s worth it

I live my life thru myself, not thru my kids life.

If you have to spend that much money to get looked at then he’s not that good.

If he was good enough, he could have got to D1 from primary.

Tell your buddy to tell his son to shut the hell up.
