It can be something you know, heard, or even read on here.

We brought Bregman to the bar on his recruiting visit and to this day he’s the only teenager I’ve ever seen order a Bud Heavy.
With that said, he maybe drank half of it, at most.
Kid was all ball.

First of all, who are you? Second of all, that’s an awesome story and can we drink a beer together?

Coach O calling in crawfish to a place that didn’t have any to get Burrow is pretty cool.

Just a story. Never confirmed. Back in the mid “90’s a certain RB from north of Lafayette went on an official visit to Florida. His HS coach was a huge LSU fans. Driving to Gainesville they went via Atlanta. Made the trip much longer.
When they returned home, the family said you are going LSU Gainesville is too far away from home.

I always liked Harvey Williams’ story about how he was all A&M and he changed his mind almost on signing day.

I heard Ryan Perriloux was going to watch the state championships in the super dome along with other recruits and someone at some point walked up to him and gave him 10k in a styrofoam cup and told him to LSU

I recall how enraged and shocked their fans were. It was glorious when he signed with LSU. See 1989 Regional at College Station for more shocked Aggie fans.

As I remember it the story goes that at his HS there was a huge aTm following. They were playing the Aggie fight song all morning, Harvey got sick of it and last-minute chose LSU.
Whether it actually happened that way or not, I don’t know. But I choose to believe it.

I’ve heard a story about a recruit, not sure who, that was committed to Texas. He got into some legal trouble. As part of his sentence the judge required him to check in with his parole officer every Friday. The parole officer was in Baton Rouge, so he was almost forced to go to LSU.

The funnier one I heard was not LSU associated. But Terry Bowden was recruiting a kid to play at Auburn and went on an in home visit to the kid. When he was walking out of the house, his dad pulls up in a stretch limo and when he walks up to the house he patted him on the head and said “Terry when you get home your momma wants you to call her.”
Terry did not end up getting the recruit.

I heard Neil Delicano , or however it’s spelled, was on his visit to UCLA. The coaches told him to go check locker room out and they would be in soon. When he gets to the shower there were two blonds waiting in there unclothed.
He signed with them.
He signed with them.

I read in one of the 'Fighting Tigers' LSU history books that when Y.A. Tittle was in high school in Texas, he had committed to A&M and even moved into a dorm there. But the then LSU coach and AD knocked on his dorm room in the middle of the night and convinced him to get his stuff and come to Baton Rouge :) This would have been in the 40s.

Dale Brown bumping into Shaq on a military base in Germany.
Dale thought he was a soldier when Shaq asked him if Dale could give him some tips on how to improve his jumping.
Shaq said I am not a soldier i' m in grammar school.
Dale started recruiting him right then and there.

LSU head coach wrote a personal check to a player before his stint at LSU before it was legal to pay players. No cash bag. A signed check. Can you believe that?

This is sort of true. But it's not A&M, it's Texas. It wasn't the AD. Red Swanson (my great uncle) was an assistant coach who had played at LSU (baseball and football) and was told to go pick up Y. A Tittle and bring him to LSU. According to what I heard my whole life, Big Red drove to Austin in the middle of the night and took him back to Baton Rouge. He wanted to go to LSU, but his parents wanted him to go to Texas.
Big Red also recruited Joe Adcock and and Jerry Stovall. Long after he left LSU and began running LTI (the Louisiana reform school for boys) he continued to recruit all over north Louisiana.
Going to football games with him was a hoot. He drove right past all the traffic and was waved through and parked right next to the elevator to the press box.
