Imagine the 2023 team with Taylor

do we win 25 SEC games?

oh what could have been

Is 2023 a little sweeter because of the loser's bracket run?

I doubt there's much adversity for that team with Taylor on it.

What if Taylor, Edwards and Shores had all stayed healthy that year

Edwards was having an incredible year. We probably would have never seen Gavin pitch.

Taylor began the 2025 season in the starting rotation, allowing just three earned runs across 17.1 innings, while striking out 19 batters and walking 10. Taylor moved to the bullpen after six starts, and he's pitched 9.1 dominant innings with zero runs, one walk and 18 strikeouts.

quote:

White Sox general manager Chris Getz said they had to manage Taylor innings due to his injury history, but they are certainly not closing the door on a starting role in the future. Getz compared this approach to Taylor's development to Garrett Crochet, who made his MLB debut as a reliever and turned into one of MLB's best starting pitchers.

quote:

Every time [Taylor] pitches, I'm pretty excited to read the reports or look at video from the night prior," Getz said Friday in Chicago. "He's above 100 mph, he's commanding the zone, the off-speed stuff is really strong. It's very clear that hitters are uncomfortable in the box. They try to get him early. So it's either weak contact or perhaps they'll get him on a hit once in a while. But once they get to two strikes it gets over fairly quickly."

Easy to forget he was suppose to be a big pitcher on the 2023 team.

Per his LSU bio, Grant was a 30+ ACT guy in high school...so, yea, he's smart. Something tells me his going to do great things in MLB and life.

CONGRATS to him! He is one of those guys I wish we saw pitch more in a LSU uniform.

Different topic, but I hope Shores sticks around for another season. His best pitching in an LSU uniform can still be ahead of him.

That's how it works some of the time. Definitely not most of the time.

Still one of the biggest what if in LSU baseball history. I would have loved to see how he was going to be used in '23. I know Jay said they moved Ty to the bullpen to start the season because of the injury so I would have loved to see Grant in the shutdown role all year.

It obviously worked out but I would have loved to see what that staff would have looked like with a healthy Grant Taylor.
