NOLA Escapee Derrick Groves's girlfriend, a former OPSO employee, arrested

"We have confirmed they were in an on-again, off-again relationship for three years," Attorney General Murrill’s office said in a statement.
28-year-old Darriana Burton was wanted on a Louisiana Attorney General's warrant for conspiracy to commit simple escape. Officials say she was arrested in the 2600 block of St. Peters Street without incident.
Burton was an OPSO employee from August 2022 to March 2023, when she was caught bringing contraband into the jail. She was arrested and charged for bringing contraband into the jail and malfeasance in office, but the DA’s office later refused the charges. The sheriff’s office fired her after the incident.
Made it 7 months as an OPSO employee

This is very common for friends and accomplices to try to get employment at the jail. Basically with no felony conviction they frequently get hired.
Luckily new law enforcement software allows you to enter names of friends and acquaintances into the system. That’s why the on scene officers try to get the name and DOB of everyone on scene of complaints and enter it into the system. Now when they apply you run their name and see if they have ties to inmates and hopefully avoid hiring them.
