I'm admittedly older (almost 65), so I've never been a fan of Sean (Puff Daddy, P Diddy, Diddy) Combs. I can't tell you a single "song"'of his that has charted, and I have no clue as to when he had his last alleged hit.

However, with all the chit that continues to be revealed in his trial, is he done? Have his 15 minutes of fame expired?

FWIW, if I were to learn that Paul McCartney, Elton John, Bob Seger, etc had behaved similarly, they would never get another concert or iTunes dollar from me. (I can't take back what I already spent previously.)

So, what is the consensus on Mr Combs? After reading an update on his trial details on TMZ, I'm interested to find out what you (generally) younger guys think.

In my early 40s here. I always thought Puff Daddy sucked.

Hope he becomes even more irrelevant after this. My 2 cents

He will always be relevant to some people. But if he doesn’t do at least 10-20 years I will be pissed. If any common man did this crap they would already be under the jail.

He was never really anything. He picked good artists to back and to promote. I believe that is where his money came from. It ain’t like he was dropping bangers left and right at any point. I think he will make it through, granted, I haven’t been following. He’s probably a little gay, but the leftist musician/celebrity culture loves that shite. He could probably keep bringing in new rappers and singers if he wanted to, but why? He already has f-u money. Why not disappear to an island and get off the train?

I'd rather not feed and house him. Let him die in the streets with the other trash.

I haven’t really followed the trial. I see the same stuff on social media everyone else does though. I don’t know if he stays out of prison or not, but his days of being such a big music mogul are over.

No….it has come out that he is quite a pervert, but all of his accusers turned out to be nothing more than a bunch of perverts as well and they whored themselves out for a life of ease and in order to be associated with fame. Unless I am mistaken, he is really not guilty of anything but some minor domestic abuse…

With freak offs (outside of prison)? Yes.

And I assume this will be a thread where everybody pretends like he didn’t make some awesome arse music back in the day.

So you never listened to (or heard) the radio 25-30 years ago? This was before Sirius or XM radio existed. For a time, Bad Boy’s music was damn near ubiquitous.

Diddy will kill himself in prison.

As an “artist” he was good a spotting talent and attaching himself to it.

Oh well

Based on the example you provided, it looks/sounds like Puffy is most famous for lifting or sampling the work of other people or groups, such as The Police.

Look up Clive Davis. This is the guy who jumpstarted Sean Combs career. He is a bi-sexual music industry mogul who gave Combs Bad Boy records. Do the math.

Ask yourself why Combs is just now going on Trial when he has been doing this stuff for almost 3 decades. Ask yourself why that video of him beating up Cassie in the hotel came out about 2 weeks before he was arrested when that incident captured on video happened 10 years ago. Whoever made the call to take him down put the video out so they could set the public narrative. Who did he upset for them to finally come after him & arrest him & put him on trial? As always, Follow the Money.

OP said his "15 minutes of fame" were almost up and he's been a major music/culture icon for going on 30 years

Saw a blurb about that recently. Apparently Sting sued him and settled out of court and Sting/The Police get $6,000/day + $1M lump sum for as long as they live.

His biggest hits were 1980s songs turned into rap crap. He did it over and over

Not sure I would categorize his career as 15 minutes of fame. In the context of Bob Seger that you referenced, Diddy would have made Seger pick up his dry cleaning if Seger wanted to ever perform again.
