Trump is really taking the high road with Elon

Trump on Elon’s DOGE work: “Oh, I think it helped us a lot. It’s not finished at all. We’ve basically taken it over, and many people remain with us. We saved hundreds of billions of dollars.”
Trump when asked if he will sell the White House Tesla: “I haven’t thought about it. I hope he does well with Tesla.”

Maybe that was the setup - so Trump can take the high road and look noble doing it.

I think it was planned to give Elon a chance to form a new Green 3rd Party and eliminate the MAGA movement after Trump’s term is up

The conspiracy theories here are getting insane. Elon has always been very liberal. He just simply hated wokeness, especially after they transed his kid, and didn’t like the crackdowns on free speech. He never truly shared many of the new rights moral or philosophical principles. He did good things to help and the idea of DOGE was great, but it appears to me he is not happy with a lot of what’s in the bill that will directly hit his business in Tesla. There’s no major story here or conspiracy

He got euphoric supporting Trump in the campaign and enjoying the win right after the election. But, he was always going to crash out when deal with the fedgov machine.

i think once he realizes he isn’t going to be able to carve off enough of MAGA to form any type of Elon coalition or whatever, he’ll go completely rogue and buddy up to Democrats.

Elon doesn’t care about the bill. Look at the timing of things. He’s upset he was forced out of Trump’s inner circle. He thinks tanking the bill is a big FU to Trump and his team. He’s already walking back his vitriol. He had a Twitter meltdown. Not the first time and won’t be the last.
His liberal past has nothing to do with a balanced budget so that idea doesn’t make much sense.
I think Trump genuinely feels bad about having to caste Elon aside and you see that in these AF1 clips.
