These should be turned over to the states IMO with an assist role from FEMA on defined "bad storms/disasters"

Insurance is trying to pay as little to trusting clients as possible and should be scrutinized and checked for ethics and contractional agreements on a regional/federal level.

Speaking of regionals, Alabama has a consortium for what south Alabama defines as 'wind insurance', like an adjunct to homeowners policies - required in Gulf of America storm areas for mortgage holders - not sure why; well, besides the possibility of 150 mile per hour winds

Most flood prone areas are already handled quite expensively by homeowners policies

Worked with a woman who has a sister, brother in law, and 2 nephews who work for FEMA. They never talked about any accomplishments or help given. They talked a lot about the 5 star hotels and restaurants they frequented

Because they had the manpower and did such a terrific job in Eastern NC last year, right?

FEMA was in the way of the average citizen groups who did all the heavy lifting during the aftermath of Helene. Elon Musk was a fricking hero that helped save hundreds if not thousands of lives with his StarLink donations. Militias, minuteman groups and average-joe brigades were the physical boots on the ground coordinating rescue, recovery, shelter and the intake, storage and distribution of supplies. Those people, both the victims and volunteers, realized then that they were completely on their own and the federal government would not have their back. It helped win the state of NC handily for Trump.

There were about 20 volunteers working the aftermath that I follow on YouTube (and most of them I followed long before the storm) and the truth that they showed the world in their videos was a truth that the government and MSM Narrative Control Apparatus still want kept in the shadows. I contacted several groups and was willing to take off work and go physically help, but these groups were already filled up. Didn't just want to show up not knowing anyone and be in the way, so I donated a few hundred dollars to legitimate groups that were providing the receipts and records of exactly where they spent the money and where it was going. Most of my donations ended up paying for dog and cat food, and T-shirts.

If you don't already know it by now, you're on your own. Big Brother is only there to steal your lunch money and pick boogers while you're on the ground being pummeled. Be connected with able-bodied, intelligent, like-minded people in your community and have an action plan with them in the event of a catastrophic emergency.
