Baseball portal, why leave team......

Before season is over?? What if LSU wins the championship? Wouldn't they get a ring?
Or, will they get one anyway even if they leave now?
This has been on my mind.
Anyone have insight into this?

The season is over for the players that entered the portal. None of them were on the playoff roster.

I've seen Yamin in the dugout and celebrating with them in the regional so would assume him since he was in the battle for catcher before the season started and finished 4th there.
Frey could also give you reps there if absolutely necessary.
On a postseason roster it's completely unnecessary to have 3 true catchers on it when you'll only play 1 guy mostly and the other guy maybe a little. Anyone can catch the pen guys warming up. If Hernandez or Arrambide got hurt, they other guy would basically just catch every game we would have left. Arrambide donly even played in the regional because we got up huge on DBU and he entered late game for Hernandez and caught 1 inning.

because if you wait until the end of the season and LSU makes a run in Omaha it will be late June at that point and teams are not waiting on you to fill their roster spots
it definitely sucks for baseball because season ends late June, summer ball is going on through early August, draft in July and school fall semester starts mid/late August
coaches don't get a break at all, once the semester starts, individual workouts begin

26 different players appeared in games during the regional and unless something has changed that’s the limit.

pretty sure Yamin qualifies for a redshirt
doubtful they have enough injuries to get down to him but LSU used three catchers back in 2023

It’s not the kids leaving… they’ve been cut. They are not on the playoff roster and, in almost all cases, have been released from the team and invited to find success elsewhere
It’s how it works across the board.
It helps the player move on to summer ball and to find a new spot
