I imagine Game 1 starters will be lefty Kade Anderson vs lefty Griffin Kirn

Griffin Kirn is 5-2 on the year with 16 starts

95 innings pitched 84 hits 29 walks 100 strikeouts .237 opponent batting average 12 HRs given up

Here’s a link to some of his highlights vs Utah earlier in the year
LINK
Looks like he does a good job of hiding the ball with his delivery

Kirn has pitched into the 7th inning or later in his last 4 starts and has only given up more than 3 runs once in his last 9 starts

Game 1 is going to be a battle

Gonna be tough. I wonder if Pearson starts over Brown since Pearson's splits against lefties are way better than Brown's.

I fully expect a pitchers duel for game 1

Have to hope we can extend at-bats and raise his pitch count

He has been throwing a lot lately

127
129
118 last three starts and then he threw another 16 pitches game 3 of their regional.

Seems to have hit his stride the last month. going farther in games giving up less runs, but he had some issues with Arizona and Oklahoma State earlier in the year. Lipscomb too

Kentucky wasn’t exactly an offensive juggernaut this year but he still had a good game.

Should be interesting.

It’s going to come down to the 8th and 9th inning. The bullpens trying to close it out. Will be very tight low scoring game. Can’t wait.

Got a feeling our offense shows up and he's out of the game by the 4th inning

There’s been some chatter out there that they may pitch him on Game 2 instead.

I would not do that just to be clear

If thats the case we should hold Eyanson for game 3.. assuming we win behind Kade in game 1

Gives AE an extra day if necessary

Didn’t we just learn our lesson about not starting your best option when you have the chance to put a team away?

I agree but still I'd feel pretty confident with AE going in game 3 on a full weeks rest vs thier 2 or 3.

And the best case scenario AE gets the full week off and can work side sessions to be ready for CWS game 1

They're not going to hold Eyanson for game 3 unless his recovery dictates that he needs the extra rest. Also, Griffin Kirn is going to be pitching game 1. The rumor was he would be throwing game 2 if it was a Friday, Saturday, Sunday series. But with starting the series on Saturday he is a full go.

Hunt had a WV media guy on his show and he said their issue coming down the stretch was their bullpen. Sound familiar? But that they were relying on the same guys and the innings added up and looked like their arms got a little tired there at the end. Will need to get into that bullpen as early as possible.

More than likely. And Pearson will get at least 2 at bats. Then his spot becomes a PH spot if he doesn't look good.
