I just rewatched this on HBO. I probably have not seen it in 30 years. It is awful. A terrible terrible movie.

A comparison would be Krull but that was campy fun. This is legit a steaming pile of shite.

Not sure how they made this. I know Superman 3 got campy with Pryor but this came out after and took it to the next level.

Yeah I haven't watched it since I was a kid either. I'll take your word on it being bad though. Not too long ago I rewatched C.H.O.M.P.S. (1979) which I remember liking and watching multiple times a child only to find it terrible as an adult.

Saw it too. I would say it hasn’t aged well but it’s really only aged.

I randomly had it on VHS as a kid, think recorded from a TV airing, so I watched it way more than most people have. It's pretty damn awful if you compare it to the Reeves movies, which are campy but have charm and feel true to the comics. Superman also does big things and his adversaries make sense. The Supergirl movie is just random non sense. She's battling a witch for some dude? Why is there witchcraft all the sudden. And there's some power trinket or something. Ya it's not good.

I remember watching this a few times as a kid. The only scene I really remember is her almost drowning in the muddy bog.

Not even remotely a comparison.

I'll watch it with the sound off.

I've grown to appreciate it more after finding out that they tested the (then current) 80's "Let's Get Physical" comic book costume, but chose to go with the timeless original costume.

It’s definitely a guilty pleasure. I remember as a kid thinking how beautiful she was as a blonde and brunette and I was a huge Superman fan.

Amazing how poor some of the movies of the 80’s were. Like history is repeating itself.

Awful movie; always thought it was dumb even back in the day, but watched it anyway because I thought she was cute.
