Regardless of what happens with the rest of the season I'm super happy for Jones that he hit that home run and has had other great moments this season like the Tennessee walkoff and the game when he slid in to beat the throw and win a game (don't remember who that was against).

I know he's had his ups and downs and maybe hasn't been as consistent as we expected but he's always seemed like a great dude and even when he's slumping you can tell he really cares. Really happy for him to have a moment. I think because of high expectations, he's gotten way more hate than he's ever deserved.

We need him to keep recovering. He has been really susceptible to low breaking balls and is getting under the fastballs. The season isn’t over thankfully and he still has time to write in his legacy at LSU.

He got a base hit and a HR last night. Maybe the slump is busted???

He should learn when to swing and not go for a HR on every swing and every situation.

I've been saying this. He is too aggressive and needs to take some pitches. Pitchers know he can't lay off the high fastballs, then they set him up with a curve ball down in the dirt.

He also hit 2 on the nose right at the CF BUT he also had that horrible SO where he looked completely lost. Hopefully its more of the hard hit balls and less of the knee buckling SOs in the supers and the CWS.

Half the board wanted him drawn and quartered at 7:00 PM last night. Hopefully this was exactly what he needed to bust out of his slump.

The Pedro Serrano in him is never going away. He's always going to have a few bad swings at breaking balls. It's just who he is.

I would’ve hoped his pitch recognition would be better by now. Hopefully he can get some work done this week and simplify his approach.

2 hits (1 HR) and hit the ball hard 2 other times. I think this can get him out of his slump.

I think most wanted him moved down in the lineup. That takes some of the pressure off him. It also possibly helps him see more fastballs and better pitches to hit when you are lower in the lineup. That’s what most people were asking for. Jared was clearly putting too much pressure on himself.

Maybe the move down in the line-up took pressure off him...all I know is that homer was a feel good moment!

This is the part people miss. Expectations change everything. There were times when his own expectations were getting in his head, it seems, and his plate discipline suffered. But he also had a lot of well hit balls that were just not home runs or right at people. Happy to see him break through! Those who were calling for him to be benched are short sighted and don't see the big picture. His defense is enough, see the plays he made last night...but he is always a threat to go deep at any time. That is why you keep him in the lineup. I hope last night opens him up to have a big weekend this weekend. GEAUX TIGERS.

doubt anyone on here hates the kid, this is a discussion board and he's been an easy, and justifiable, target for his woes at the plate

Bear’s recent slump is yet another example that it takes a ton of intestinal fortitude to play the game of baseball. It’s a game like no other that tests your ability to overcome failing after failing again and again. So was so happy for him hitting the late game HR.

He can hit if he will stick with his approach. Can't sell out to the. long ball!
