I think a good rule of thumb to have is that if the result of one game will make you change your mind about a proclamation you make, then you shouldn’t make it.

My point is, if Indiana gets smoked in the first playoff game they play and looks clunky as hell will you still say he’s the best coach in the country?
I think the big thing you’re missing here OP is that with the standard you’re holding them to, idk what defense would be good enough. In my opinion this is the best defense LSU has had since 2011. Yes I think they’re better than the 2019 defense. With the way you’re judging, you wouldn’t say our 2007 defense was that good. They gave up a lot of points in several games. I agree with you that the Vandy game was not great by them. But idk how you can say they weren’t good against ole Miss. They played tough as hell and got turnovers that allowed us to hang around and have a shot even with our offense being totally useless. The reality is that no matter how good your defense is, most likely you’ll have a game or two where the other team’s offense has a good game and you gotta out score them. You won’t find a single SEC team that didn’t have a game where they gave up a good amount of points this year.

And if we want to say our D wasn’t good against Vandy then that’s fine, but they were awesome against Ole Miss, Florida, Oklahoma, Bama, and I would even argue they were really good against A&M but ran out of gas in the 2nd half when our offense was doing their usual hanging the defense out to dry.

No, Baker is not perfect. But I think they may have been the best in the SEC this year and they single handedly kept us in almost every game.

I hear ya, but Kiffin coaching Ole Miss in the CFP with one foot out the door is not the version of Kiffin they wanted. Imagine O coaching us in the CFP in 2019 having already announced he'll be coaching Bama the next year. It's just not practical.

I hear you. But I think Bama to LSU is more comparable than LSU to Ole Miss. If LSU was a doormat year in and year out and 2019 was our first championship shot ever I would definitely want to just go for it and bet on us getting a good replacement at the end. Not to mention Lane seemed to have them pretty locked in against Mississippi State. And I promise you they’re not gonna be better coached now. Also the players wanted him to stay and coach. I get that it’s a crappy spot for Ole Miss. But I still think the better of the two options was to at least go for it. Don’t just quit cause you got your feelings hurt.

What I Truly Don’t Understand

I’m beyond thrilled to have Lane as our coach and couldn’t be more excited for our future. And for our sake I’m very happy Ole Miss didn’t let him coach the playoffs.

But, I truly don’t get why 99 percent of the media (Even members that I usually think have some decent takes) are saying Ole Miss had to fire him and there’s no way you could let him coach the postseason cause he’s gonna be tampering with players and you’ll be screwed for next year.

Bro, you’re Ole Miss. You’re in the middle of the best season in school history. Push your chips into the middle of the table and go for it. Next year is gonna be rough no matter what. You were dealt a shite hand but still try to play the hand and win. Don’t flip the table over and disqualify yourself because you’re embarrassed or have some stupid pride. You’re still screwed for next year anyway.

2019 was the best sporting season of my life. The next two years were brutal and O flamed out hard. And I’d take that trade over and over again. I could understand if you were bama, Ohio state, Georgia or even LSU kicking the dude to the curb. You’ve been there before. But Ole Miss just self sabotaged the first chance they’ve ever had at real glory because of pride. And we’re still gonna take their coaches and players and they still just promoted their DC to head coach. So what did you gain? David Pollack is the only media member I’ve really heard hammer this perspective home.

Riley scares the hell out of me. I know they’ve looked better this year but last year didn’t they have a horrible record. And it still looks like the same ole soft Riley any time they play a tough team. I think he’d get eaten alive in the SEC with about 4 to 5 losses most years.
Some way some how it seems like we have poor technique on every single aspect of offense. Any positive play that we make is talented players making plays
I agree BK should override Franks bad decision. That said I want an RB coach that makes the obvious right decision in the first place and doesn’t need to be overruled.
I want Frank gone too. He gets paid a million a year to not realize that Harlem Berry is awesome and by far the best running back on the team. Every fan can see it and he can’t.

And Texas is gonna roll Florida and Penn State will crush UCLA. Bama will also easily beat Florida State who will cruise past Virgina.

re: Kelly just needs to stfu

I’m not saying I’m totally satisfied with Kelly. Very far from it. But I think saying he’s the worst in the front of the mic is an exaggeration and recency bias. You’re forgetting how insanely frustrating the Les years were unless you’re too young to remember. Yes. We won a championship and Les could recruit his arse off. But we were extremely lucky to get to the championship in 2007 with everything that happened in the last weekend. Les was so stubborn and frustrating with not maximizing our talent. O caught lightning in a bottle in my opinion with Burrow Chase and Jefferson on the same team but we saw how quickly he came back to earth after that season. The landscape of college football is also entirely different now so I don’t think it’s necessarily fair to say they built championship programs and he hasn’t cause it’s just so different with NIL.
OP, I’m sorry but you’re just exaggerating. Yes Kelly has said dumb stuff and will say more dumb stuff, but he’s not as bad as Les was and he’s not as bad as O was. So he’s not the worst ever.
Exactly. Even though we beat the hell out of Southeastern we STILL couldn’t physically dominate the line of scrimmage.
I'm not asking if they could pound the rock against elite defenses. I know they got over powered when they played good defenses. I'm asking if his offensive lines could physically dominate the many inferior opponents that they did play.

If they did, then I think we can feel confident that replacing Sloan and Davis gives us a good shot at fixing the problem. If they didn't then we have a much bigger problem.
quote:

Totally agree. It’s why we struggle in week 1 games. There’s no self awareness in the program and takes half a season to figure out our identity. And I’d add the usage of Harold Perkins has been reactionary as well. They still haven’t figured out to let Nuss run occasionally or nobody’s going to respect the play fake.

This. It takes the coaching staff longer to realize stuff that the fans can see right away. Fans knew Perkins was the best player on defense right away but it took 4-5 weeks before he was really on the field constantly.

Same thing with Durham last year. It took one run against South Carolina last year to know he was our best back. It took the staff 3 more games after South Carolina before he was the starter.

It's clear to fans now that Berry needs more carries badly and is by far our most explosive back. But, I don't expect him to really start getting a lot more carries until about 3 games from now.
While I don't have confidence the coaches will fix anything, I think there are a ton of things we could do to improve the offense.

We HAVE to use tempo more often. I almost feel like every time we get a big play we should run to the line and run the ball. Currently it's like we take forever to set up and milk the clock only to then run a super simple run play and get stuffed. Run the same play just go faster and it's more successful.

Stop wasting plays on the deep fades on the sidelines. They clearly aren't working right now.

Run Harlem Berry a lot. He's so clearly the most explosive back right now.

When you have a third and short, come out the huddle quickly and just run the damn ball. Stop taking forever to check and do all the bullshite. It hurts us more than it helps.

When you get in the redzone do something other than just throwing it to TreyDez Green no matter what. He's an awesome player but it's literally the most unimaginative predictable thing ever and it doesn't really work.

I could go on and on but basically just stop doing the same dumb shite that doesn't work over and over again. And when something does work, do it over and over again.

Thanks for watching! We actually did shoot it on an old early 2000s camera. But we also added in some of the old vhs effects and sounds in post production.

A friend of mine came across his childhood camera and was just like “let’s make something with this.” And then my other friend had this idea of a comedy with us living in a crappy apartment. And I felt like the vibe of the old camera kind of just fit with the premise. Kinda like trailer park boys or early seasons of Always Sunny. I kind of think looking crappy makes it a little funnier in a way. Also made it cheaper and easier to shoot.
