BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - Roux 61 Seafood & Grill has shut down its restaurant on Bluebonnet Boulevard in Baton Rouge, the owner confirmed Sunday.
The restaurant closed Saturday, May 31.
Owner Jason Lees told WAFB that business was good at the location but he came upon a “great opportunity to sell the real estate.”
Lees said a non-disclosure agreement currently prevents him from saying who is buying the property. However, he said the new venture planned there is not a restaurant.
Lees says he is now actively searching for a new Baton Rouge location.
The Bluebonnet Boulevard location opened in 2015.
The only other Roux 61 location, in Natchez, will remain open.

Man I hope they find another location soon. First Drago's and now Roux 61... those were my top 2 spots for raw oysters.

Roux 61 was weird with their to-go orders, not sure why. You had to pay in full over the phone before you could come get your food.
Good yes, but way overpriced.

I went there once and the table next to ours sent a "strawberry margarita" back 3 times. Turns out she was looking for a "strawberry daiquiri". They later on had to call the manager over for problems with the food.
So you know, that's what they were dealing with. Little tough to make money when your customer base doesn't know the difference between margaritas and daiquiris.

Is the old Joe's Crab Shack location jinxed?

Yea the portions at Roux 61 are very generous compared to places like Phil's.

That stuffed portabello mushroom was big enough to be an entree (and tasted amazingly good).
I want to hope they move closer to me, but I know I would end up eating there far too often.

We really liked Roux 61 food but had similar experiences each time. Tables of 15 people constantly sending things back for stupid things like too much ice in the drink, etc. meanwhile we sat there with empty drinks and couldn’t even get the server to our table for probably 30 minutes just to get the check. What should have been a 1 hour dinner turned into 2+ hours of frustration because of the customers that place attracted through no fault of their own. I felt bad for the waitress and increased the tip because I knew she wouldn’t get a dime from that table.

Which is why I don’t even think about opening a restaurant in BR.
