Lose and you now have failed to make it past regionals 3/4 years while at lsu and have the worst regional elimination on paper in college baseball history

I don’t know if I can remember 1 game being on such a tilt. It’s kinda unique to how the ncaa baseball tournament is setup, but man what a roller coaster ride we are in for on the rant one way or the other

We won’t forget last night even with a win. It’s not a Natty and CJJ has to push the analytics on the side. Like someone said earlier everyone gut said to pull Shores early before giving up the lead.

Until next week (if LSU wins).

But I do agree this is a fulcrum game for the fan perception of Jay. Win, and fans largely forget about last night. Lose, then you start to hear louder shouts of "he was only good with the stacked class Maineri left him with + a once in a 3 generations pitcher". I'm not saying that is accurate. It's just what the fans will start to think.

The fans were done with Paul after the 2018 season. Yet, he did reach the super regionals in his two seasons after that. The 2023 NC still will carry a TON of weight. But folks are going to get a little restless if the other three seasons ended before the SR round.

What's frustrating is that we seem to play down to inferior pitching. Multiple times this year we've horribly struggled against small conference pitching. To the point of making them look like MLB studs. Pop flys, slow ground balls, etc. And...like last night, our pitching can't compete with them - when we should be blowing them out of the batter's box.

You can lose 4 times in the ncaa tournament and still win the championship

They will only forget about it for the rest of this postseason. It will be brought up ad nauseum for the rest of his tenure. It should at least temper down the "should we start or Ace in the opening game" questions.

In terms of things that matter it’s 100% erased. You move on to supers and it has zero effect on anything

Do you think fanbases of schools who have been coached by Van Horn or Schlossnagle would trade getting eliminated in regionals more often to win an occasional national championship?

What’s the NIL valuation for pitchers who walk 3 straight batters?

Yes

Do you want Coach O back over Kelly?

Had Paul won it all again in 2017, he would have been remembered so much differently.

Yeah it’ll get real ugly for him if they somehow mess around and lose tonight

I don’t see that happening though

LSU had a dreaded combo in yesterday's game of double digit walks given up and double digit runners left on base. I really don't see that happening tonight.

UALR is a 4 seed for a reason. They were sub 0.500 for the season, and won only one third of their conference games. Just somehow pulled a rabbit out their asses and won the Ohio Valley Tournament to get into a Regional. Chances are really good that LSU spanks the crap out of them tonight. I'm not even expecting it to be an interesting game.

Yeah there is no reason LSU shouldn’t smoke them
