He has not proven that he can bounce back. Either move him to #8 in the order or bench him. Put Frey at first! Superstition is Jay’s worst enemy.
Not wanting to change the lineup!

He looks lost at the plate.

He needs to hit 6th. Push him down but not too far down. Maybe that will cause him to relax a little more.

He has 0 confidence with his approach at the plate. Guessing every pitch, swinging at balls, whiffing on strikes.

It’s ugly.

I would definitely swap him and Frey in the batting order at a minimum

He sits fastball and if he doesn’t guess right then he’s terrible.

It’s also hard to say it’s a slump when he’s hitting sub .240 in the last 30 games. He beats up on small teams early in year but has been terrible in league play against decent pitching.

He certainly should be pushed back in the order to 7-8

And fouls off those fastballs or pops them up. And you are right about the numbers. Maybe it isn't a slump.....

Switch hitting lineup with Monster. Please don't continue doing the same thing and expecting different results.

Unfortunately, it’s more than confidence. When things go this wrong it’s usually multiple things. That’s what makes it hard to figure out…and hard to fix.

I don’t expect this to change before the year is over.

Bear is in his own head too much. He needs to calm the frick down, get out there, and just have fun.

Yes. It's hard to bench a guy with his potential, but without question he should be moved down in the order. Putting together a batting order is supposed to be about maximizing opportunities. Curiel has gotten hot again, Milam is finally looking like he's back, Dickinson is steady, and Frey has been our best hitter over the last month, probably. Those guys all need to be stacked together. We shouldn't have to keep watching Curiel get on base, only for Jones to come up and strike out or pop up. You want the next guy up to keep the pressure on. Jones, right now, has to feel like a free out for pitchers.

A visiting coach from a 28 win team with a 200+ RPI walked a freshman to get to Jones, and that speaks volumes.

He has a better chance of hitting the lottery over a breaking ball

Just be ready to hit the fastball they keep sneaking by on the first or 2nd pitch.

We need a more consistent contact hitter 2nd and a more reliable run producer 3rd.

Dickinson 2nd and Frey or Brown 3rd.

When the opposing skipper intensionally walks the batter in front of you to get to you knowing that you will strike out or pop up it has got to be a really bad feeling.
