Strips humanity down to it's bare bones. Highly entertaining.
New season starts in a couple weeks.
If you've never seen alone go watch last season (11) and you'll be hooked.

Contestants are picked best for tv ratings.
They all end same way. Never a single survivalist with nobody in his life on that show.
That would be boring and he would win

The Australians are a bunch of pussies. Feel like half quit within a week

You can catch it on Hulu.
It's a survivalist show where people are dropped off in the wilderness, often somewhere just inside the Arctic Circle around the end of the summer. They are dropped off miles from one another and aren't to have contact (they have no idea where the others are in relation to them, but they aren't supposed to seek them out anyway).
They are allowed 10 items from a pre-approved list of 40 and basically have to set up a shelter then hunt for their food until there is only one left. They have cameras and have to film themselves a LOT. Every week they get a wellness check and new batteries for the cameras.
It's pretty interesting to see why people tap out and how the ones who win are able to make it (especially when they get to the point where there's only a couple of hours of daylight each day).

Not true there has been at least one winner who fits this description. Was one of the best seasons too. I won't give names to spoil anything for people.

The best and most popular winner fits that mold. Roland.

Didn't wanna spoil anything but yah since you already said it Roland, possible the most famous winner, fits that mold exactly.
Also I can think of a bunch of young single guys who were great survivalists tap out cause they couldn't handle the social isolation. Breaks a ton of contestants.
Lots of very good survivalists tap out cause they can't handle the mental aspect. It what makes the show one of the best on TV imo. You're battling your own mind as much as the elements/nature.

When Roland said he's being doing this his whole life and doesnt have anything better to do i knew he was going win.

I knew he was single from the start and would win. Nobody to worry about back home. But he likely splits the money if it wasn't for frost bite.

I think the show early on was bent on reshaping your expectations.
First Season some braggadoccio Army Ranger quit after the first day when he saw Bear scat near his drop-off site.
Reality TV, not much faith in who these people really are and their "bios" but Alone gives the best illusion of the lot.
