What will it take for our Congress to actually do work?

How many more years do we keep playing the "my side is in control" game? Do none of you see that every time Republicans get control, they do NOTHING. Then when midterms get here and the Dems take back Congress, all the Republicans do is bitch and moan?
They're stealing us blind on both sides, while we argue about dumb shite like trans athletes. All that is, is red meat to keep us not focusing on their fleecing of ALL of our money.
It doesn't matter if you're a Republican or Democrat in their eyes, they're taking this money equally.
Elections aren't working here, and it's sickening.

Well, we can either continue to act like we’re being victimized or we can actually start putting more MAGA friendly people in Washington and stop re-electing the same old tired charlatans over and over.
We’ve always had the power to enforce our own “term limits” but we’ve rarely bothered to exercise it.

Republicans do nothing. Democrats act. Government continually grows.

I think overturning citizens united (while not a silver bullet) would NET be a real positive for pushing policy to more closely mirror the will of the people.
The corporate influence is insidious and at times overwhelming. Esp when you consider the amount of politicians they’re paying. Really hard to overcome.
Term limits would help too.

Ok, so how do we make this happen? What the strategy here? It's certainly not continuing to bitch on a message board (and yeah I'm talking about myself too).

If you watched the Tucker interview of the woman who was Bush’s HUD secretary, she said the powers that be realized sometime around 1997 I think, that the system was too broken and the politicians too corrupt to repair. So instead, they started stealing the money to use on dark projects.

Let me get this straight. Your solution to solving congressional stagnation is for it to become one ideology?

Considering the way congress operates and behaves, Benedict Arnold would be considered a Patriot in comparison by today’s standards.

People actually giving a shite and getting involved and bothering to vote in elections big and small….right down to the local school boards.
Our voter participation levels have historically been crap.
Will that ever happen? If past predicts future, probably not.
But the only “quick fix” to this mess that has cemented itself in over decades would involve things that most people would prefer to never have to think about.
It’s certainly going to involve a much longer sustained effort than electing one man president and expecting him to upend it all basically on his own.

I’m not sure how you drew that conclusion from my comments.
But…no.

Agreed. It was a decision that only further strengthened the influence and power of special interests vs. that of the regular everyday voter.
Like you said, not a silver bullet but it certainly would not hurt anything to be rid of it (except the various special interests perhaps).

All anyone from the swamp is gonna do is just lay low for a few years until Trump is out of office. Then back to usual.

Nothing short of a "French" style revolution.

Here's the problem. Every time a policy is up for vote they ask themselves this question: 'How is my vote going to be used by my opponent in the next election?'
IE, 'Should I vote to stop Medicaid payments for able bodied young people that refuse to work? My opponent will run ads about how I voted to starve millions of children. I'm gonna vote 'no' on this one.'
Of course that vote will hurt them with republican voters who know what the bill was really about. But the safest strategy for congressmen is to never vote on anything.

Imagine being able to reclaim that money and "only" being 16 trillion in debt today.
I mean, I would take it if I could.
