Zion status update: Will he be traded?

quote:

The New Orleans Pelicans are reportedly uninterested in trading star forward Zion Williamson, who has been plagued by injuries the last six campaigns, during the offseason.

"Yes, it's very unlikely Williamsons get moved in a trade before the 2025-26 season starts," William Guillory of The Athletic wrote on Wednesday. "There's already been communication between Williamson, his camp and [new Pelicans executive vice president of basketball operations Joe] Dumars on several occasions."

This is is starting to seem like a waste of money. Is he going to even play? Look I've said go buy tickets and support them but I'm not paying hundreds of dollars for him to sit on the bench and chew gum. I don't know .I hope I'm overreacting.

if he builds on what he was doing towards the end of last year when he came back from injury, and can remain happy/healthy (big ask, i know), Zion is going to be a problem for opposing teams...

At some point you have to realize how silly this sounds..

oh, i realize how much of a broken record this sounds like... 1000%... but given the physique and play we saw out of him when he came back at the end part of last year, if, and i know that's a HUGE "if", but if he can build on that and stay healthy, he's a problem...

at any rate, we have to get him on the floor and producing, to maximize his trade value anyway, so the whole "trade him before the season" is a non-starter right off the bat...

Let’s say Z plays 65 games. How many games do we win? 40-42 would be my guess. Just seems pointless.

don't know but if Z is healthy and motivated, like he was for that brief time last year, and everyone else is healthy too, out of 65 i'd say 45+...

38.8% x 65 = 25 wins if Zion plays 65 games

I think we win 28 games and Z plays 32.

Zion played 24 games when he came back. We went 8-16, so 33%. You reversed it..

Why does anyone point to anything from last year? Y’all are acting like you don’t understand that the team was actively trying to lose. Throughout his career, when Zion plays, the team wins more than they lose. It’s pretty simple.

A quad strain is a good one… I was leaning more towards another hamstring strain.

He's 4 games over .500 for his entire career.

For sure, expectations for Zion were skewered when he led the 10 or so game win streak. Staying healthy is a large part, but another piece to look at is his skill maturation. Not only offensively, but knowing Pels have spent the better part of his career asking him just to be engaged on the defensive side of the ball.

not that it's relevant after today's news, but like i said
quote:

everyone else is healthy
then yeah, we'd have a great shot at winning a bunch of games...

we weren't fully healthy when:
quote:

he came back. We went 8-16

so your premise falls in upon itself when you conveniently omit part of my opinion... but like i said, after the news today, it definitely changes the argument for Zion, but we are essentially fricked as far as any trades go... only recourse is to keep him or cut him... point blank
