Good afternoon, folks.

Hope you are all well. Cannot thank you enough for your opinions on the CJ trade I idea I posted. I learn so much from you all re the salary cap, etc.

Bleacher Report has posited the following trade: I like it, but I am not sure Charlotte would as they seem to be giving up a lot.

Zion to Charlotte for Tidjane Saluan, Miles Bridges, 26 1st, nd 28 first. I would assume the 26 would be protected, as according to nbadraft.net it would currently be the third overall. Karim Lopez is the projected pick.

I know Saluan has underpeformed, but there is way too much talent there to overlook. This is the equivalent of a solid veteran and three first round picks. I would do it...not sure Charlotte would

Thoughts ??

Have a great day !

Miller or Ball is the starting price, then we talk about picks. Any less and you hang up the phone.

We aren’t trading Zion unless it really hurts the other team. I don’t think Charlotte offering a couple firsts is some insult, but we aren’t trading Zion for a package like that any more than Charlotte is trading Lamelo for a couple firsts.

What's the highlight of this trade we would be getting back?

Salauan would be a crazy gamble since he histoircally had one of the worst rookie seasons of all time.

It would be the equivalent of giving Charollette future picks, Hawkins, and CJ for Lamelo Ball.

If we're trading Zion for picks (and no stars), those picks better be unprotected.

Doesn't matter.

Whichever team has Zion will get half a season out of him and whichever team has the first rounders will screw up the picks

I could see Charlotte including Ball in a trade for Zion...but doubt they would consider Miller.

I don't know what Tidjane Saluan is, but i don't want him.

Id consider #4 this year from Charlotte, unprotected '26 first, 27 pick swap, '28 first, and Miles Bridges.

And if we did that, then i'd 100% want to move CJ. And i'd also do whatever i could to move #4/#7 to get to #2.

It seems most people here haven’t realized how low Zion’s value actually is.

I honestly doubt Charlotte would even offer this and you aren’t getting any better offers for Zion

We’re talking about a guy that plays 35 games/year, doesn’t take his conditioning seriously and has yet to play a single minute of playoff basketball in 6 years.

It’s too painful for them to admit because it’s admission we’re going to hover in that 18-30 area for multiple seasons to come.

Have you noticed ridiculous trade ideas dominate this board of late, most with an inflated view of Zion like it’s 2019 again? The board copes that way with false hope to dig us from the drudgery.

Sell the team.

Yeah I think 30 wins is probably the ceiling for this team next year. The west is loaded next year, and we’re missing Dejounte till probably January. We’ll be long out of the play in race by then

Posted This Almost Two Weeks Ago...

For example, this trade isn't exciting but it might be realistic:

Hornets: Zion

Pels: Miles Bridges, Josh Green, 2025 1st (4th overall), 2026 2nd, 2027 1st.

Pels come out with a useful player (Bridges) a solid back up, the 4th and 7th round picks in this year's draft, a second next year and another first in '27.

Let's say that lets you come out of this draft with VJ Edgecombe and Derik Queen (or Tre Johnson and Khaman Maluach). Or maybe you can package 4&7 and trade up with Spurs for 2nd pick and Dylan Harper.

It's not a great package for what Zion could be, but it is a reasonable jump start to a rebuild and leaves a team that is still a playoff contender with CJ/Herb/Trey/Brides/Missi starting and Jose//VJ/Boston/Queen/Olynek as second five, with DeJounte in the wings.

There are few safer bets in the NBA than the Pelicans ability to under-develop talent and their inability to take appropriate injury prevention measures. Zion has no long term debilitating injury. His talent is top 5 in the league. The Pelicans will never draft a player with his level of talent again.

Charlotte would jump at the chance to trade Lamelo and multiple first for Zion. Let’s see if Mr Dumars can put the appropriate measures in place or if ownership limits his ability to do so.

He had top 5 potential. He is injury prone and can't go 20 games without some lower body injury. He is also extremely one-dimensional on offense, so he produces lots of empty stats. There is enough data out to confirm that he doesn't make the players around him better unless they are basic spot-up shooters, and any decent PG does that.

i think if we had won the first pick, i would have traded Z to Charlotte for Miller and maybe a few picks.

You can't trade Z now.

You're not getting that kind of return for Zion. No team trusts him enough to invest in him like that.

Then we're doomed.
