re: Opinion Request - Zion to Charlotte (Bleacher Report - I like it

There are few safer bets in the NBA than the Pelicans ability to under-develop talent and their inability to take appropriate injury prevention measures. Zion has no long term debilitating injury. His talent is top 5 in the league. The Pelicans will never draft a player with his level of talent again.
Charlotte would jump at the chance to trade Lamelo and multiple first for Zion. Let’s see if Mr Dumars can put the appropriate measures in place or if ownership limits his ability to do so.

To watch this organization scam ticket buyers time and time again by misrepresenting injury timelines, mismanaging draft picks, and making every mistake a young organization can make, they simply cannot remove Zion at this point in the game (given the history). Zion better need a leg amputation or he can leave, and the team as well. Were done.

The medical personnel for potential trade partners have ZERO fear of AD's injury risk based upon his missed time or past injuries. I don't see this as a deal breaking issue, and neither do the experts.
Im just as pissed as the next person that AD would compromise the organization and demand out in the middle of the season. But trust me, we keep AD and we have a core that will compete for a championship. On the other hand, Tatum and Brown with Zion will get us an eighth seed in a few years.
Just think about AD being the center of our offense and having Zion fly around without the defenses being able to focus on him. This could be very exciting.

Keeping AD is a necessity. We lost Chris Paul because the organization couldn't surround him with the necessary talent to win a championship. Anthony Davis was our consalation prize. History will soon repeat itself with AD, whereas Zion is the consolation this time around. The chain is broken by keeping AD and adding a secondary star to the lineup (this is the only thing the pelicans have proven capable of-Cousins) and then competing for a championship. This also means we don't lose Zion in a few years.
The secondary players that the pelicans will receive in a trade won't compete for a championship. The very best mentioned are Kuzma and Tatum. Using history as a predictor for their future performance, Kuzma was not capable of getting his team to the playoffs and Tatum's team was eliminated early (while being surrounded by a better team than the Pelicans will field).
