quote:

Grading for Equity eliminates homework or weekly tests from being counted in a student’s final semester grade. All that matters is how the student scores on a final examination, which can be taken multiple times. Students can be late turning in an assignment or showing up to class or not showing up at all without it affecting their academic grade. Currently, a student needs a 90 for an A and at least 61 for a D. Under the San Leandro Unified School District’s grading for equity system touted by the San Francisco Unified School District and its consultant, a student with a score as low as 80 can attain an A and as low as 21 can pass with a D.

I look forward to flying in the planes and driving over the bridges that one day will be designed by these students.

Every time something like this happens in the Bay Area, parents in the impacted area give comments to the press like "we didn't ask for this, we weren't included in the process!"

I think it's hilarious

"Yes, I mean, sure we voted for changing the name of the school to be less white/heteronormative and instead honor a 1970s trans black separatist. And of course, we fought to mandate nonbinary pronouns as an option for dogs and cats when registering them, but we didn't know it would extend to something like this!"

The problem with these people is that they think they can create a world where competence is not a thing and doesn't matter. And a world where no one will ever learn or experience what it's like to fail or not get their way.

It's legitimately an alternate reality and we all pay the price for their attempts to create it.

At least right now places like SF and Maine seem more and more like outliers. I don't know if that'll last, but it's a marked shift from say, 24 months ago.

They are unknowingly putting these folks at a severe disadvantage in life.

We're only a few years away from places like Louisiana and Mississippi, who were previously the lowest rated scool systems in the country, being the top rated school systems because they will be the only ones still teaching the "antiquated" traditional way.

It's not a coincidence the teachers union is in favor of it because it further reduces any work they need to do as well as their accountability.

The goal of the union --> the least work and accountability for the most pay (frick them kids).

None of this matters. All they have to do is take the SAT or ACT, and colleges will realize how fricking stupid these kids are.

Bizarre. And how many inner city minority youth struggling and needing grade equity could there possibly be in SF? Hell how many upper middle class students could afford it

I've tried this overly permissive stuff in classrooms. It rarely works, and fails students who need structure

Well yeah.. when you can gain admittance or get the job based on boxes you’re checking for diversity based on skin color and sexual orientation it’s all
