As House Speaker Mike Johnson urges his Senate colleagues not to “meddle” with the bill too much, fiscal hawks in the Senate have signaled they won’t support the package in its current form.

“We have enough to stop the process until the president gets serious about spending reduction and reducing the deficit,” Sen. Johnson said on CNN’s ‘State of the Union.’

Where did these “fiscal hawks” come from all of a sudden?

There’s so much conflicting information from the right about the BBB that I don’t know what to believe.

Johnson said he’ll move if they drop spending levels to pre Covid, adjusted for inflation and population. This is about another $800 billion.

If this was true then why won’t they get ride of the Green New Deal spending and codify the DOGE cuts? ??

That actually seems reasonable.

In other words, he wants more continuing resolutions and to never pass anything of substance.

I agree with the part in bold but why does Trump have to "get serious"? They are the law writers aren't they?

What he's really saying is he wants the Trump tax cuts to expire.

I find it hard to believe any Republicans actually have the stones to go through with that.

They will cave, or they will lose their next elections either via primary or via general election. Voting to end those tax cuts would be extremely stupid for a Republican to do.

That is NOT the criterion. No one gives a rat's arse WTF politicians don't want to do. We care about what they do want to do.

The other day Ron Johnson said he and others don't have elections coming up so they don't GAF about being primaried.

Then it was said by MarkWayne Mullin: they will go through 1000 pages line by line, oh boy will they ever bring it home and finally cut spending, just you wait and see...

Now they are going to hold this hostage until they frick it up as they have for 21 years.

Cut spending. The ball is in Trump's corner now, with his BBBB (Big, beautiful, bloated bill) getting criticism. We'll see how he responds.

I said we'll see how Trump responds. I didn't even make a prediction how he'll response.

This means a lie isn't possible.
