Just curious what he was like in person and if he was as wild & crazy as legend has it.
Dude was such an incredible musician.
In interviews he seems like a good dude.

And yes, I know that there is a Music Board that doesn't get much traffic but this isn't a music related question.

Would have loved to have been a fly on the wall on him and jimmy swaggart’s house growing up in Ferriday. Guarantee those times were wild.

Yes.

My father was a Nashville musician who did both live dates and studio work for almost three decades.

As a child I was introduced to the Killer backstage at a show. He was very nice to me.

Saw him play live once in Nashville. I remember him playing "great balls of fire" on a piano. He rocked it. That's all I've got

My mom knew him. She grew up near near his mom's house.

He's buried not far from where she lives now. Just a random grave out in the middle of nowhere Clayton LA.

My mom grew up in a house close to him. Her favorite story was him coming home one time (after he was big and famous), having a bad day. She told me he had a big fancy Cadillac that he drove to the middle of the soybean field between their house and hers, poured gasoline all over it, and lit it on fire. She told me her house shook when it exploded. She had no idea why he did it, other than to say "that was just Jerry Lee, he was crazy".

You’re absolutely right about that. It is in the middle of nowhere. No phone signal out there. Hell, no nothing out there

Have a friend in Olive Branch, MS was standing next to him at a liquor store at Getwell and Goodman. He was buying a handle of Dckell a few days before Christmas about 15 years ago .

He called most everyone, “Killer” because he didn’t care to learn anyone’s name.

“How ya doin, killer”. Or “Hey killer”. It morphed into a self fulfilling prophecy as his nickname, though.

I saw him in the 2005-6 time frame doing a photo shoot outside of the Sun Studios in Memphis. My impression was that he was frail and paying the price for the wild and crazy life he lived.

I never met him but a good friend tells how she met Jerry Lee, Elvis, and Johnny Cash when she worked at Sun Records as a receptionist/secretary. As a young woman, her assessment of the three was Elvis and Johnny were gentlemen while Jerry Lee was a low life letcher.

His cousin Gerald Lewis was the Pastor at the church I went to growing up in Monroe. He facilitated my wedding. He was a damn good piano player himself. I used go fishing at his house on Bayou Desiard. Wonderful people.

Saw him perform at the Mississippi Broiler fest in 98. He played in a rodeo arena. Stage was at the end, the doors at the back of the arena opened up, and a long white Cadillac rolled in. The Killer stepped out walked on stage and started jamming. Finishes his set gets back in the car and drives off. Epic!

His nephew married my wife and I in north Georgia. He inherited one of Jerry’s cars which we took pictures with at the wedding. Was cool.

Actually, I was at Jimmy's house in the early 70's in Tara. Say him and Jerry Lee play "great balls of fire "over each others hand on Jimmy's piano. Crazy stuff.
