NEW ORLEANS — Following scrutiny over the escape of 10 inmates from the Orleans Justice Center, Orleans Parish Sheriff Susan Hutson announced Tuesday that she is temporarily suspending her re-election campaign.
The announcement came just hours after Hutson appeared before the New Orleans City Council, where she took responsibility for the jailbreak and called for increased funding to improve jail security.

This is great, however, the next biggest contender is currently employed by the New Orleans DA, who is helping her with her campaign. That's likely why he's been in the news chastising the Sheriff.

Don’t get me wrong this is extremely pathetic, but this is nothing compared to Katrina, Covid, etc.
This is embarrassing for city leaders, but this doesn’t really impact my day to day in the slightest. Covid was probably rock bottom in the city for me.
