I'm always thrown off by how much older I think people were back then because of how they looked.

George was in his early 30s when the show aired

My favorite Cheers line:

SAM: What can I getcha Norm?

NORM: Well, I'm gonna need something before my second beer

SAM: What about a first one?

The writing and humor back then was more subtle. More sophisticated. It was a better time.

In the middle of rewatch of cheers and it’s awesome. I loved it as a kid, just catching syndicated episodes. Watching it in order has been fun. It’s funnier than I remembered.

It helped that people welcomed casts and shows into their homes every week, especially shows like Cheers. The audience often felt like they were sitting in the corner of the bar.

Subtlety can go a long way when the audience knows and relates to the characters.
