LSU Graduation today

Attended my niece’s (no pics) graduation this morning in the PMAC. About halfway through, thought I accidentally went to Southern graduation. Anyone else witness the stomping and dancing from certain graduates?
On another note, it was good to see Big Will and Nuss Bus getting their diplomas. Surprised Will was there.
ETA: LSU has evolved a lot since I graduated in 95.

Out of curiosity what was your nieces major and gpa?

If it was stomping, maybe they were in a black frat or sorority. I assume they still do the stomp stuff, no?
My only issue when I went yesterday for my stepdaughter was groups that screamed and yelled for their graduate for minutes. So loud that the next five kids’ names couldn’t even be heard over the PA system.
I get that it’s exciting. Scream all you want for the 10-15 seconds between names, but then shut the frick up and let the next kid (and their families/friends) have their moment.

Weird, that didn't happen at my college of engineering graduation 10 years ago

Not gonna say her major due to privacy, but she was Summa Cum Laude and starts law school in 2 weeks. Very good student.

Being the brightest in a group of journalism majors doesn’t hold much weight.

Attended my son's HS graduation a couple of days ago. Predominantly white school in Livingston Parish, with BB enthusiasts making up 5% of the class--although their families made up about 1/4 of the attendees. They were some exuberant folks for sure: Dances, stomps, and even one backflip from the graduates. Raucous cheering and artificial noisemakers from the families.
Happy for them, and I'm sure graduates of all races are less likely to receive 3 hots and a cot from my tax dollars. OTOH, I felt bad for the kids whose names were read immediately afterwards being drowned out.

Class act. A lot of people were back then. No more. We are a classless society and it’s celebrated.

I understand folks can be excited that they graduated and it is a big deal/accomplishment.
With that said, I just find it so rude to other graduates. The graduate immediately following get their moment drowned out by cheering for the prior graduate and it seems way too much like a narcissistic, "look at me" situation.
Just feels classless to make such a big scene at a graduation ceremony, especially because they specifically say (at least I think I remember this) to limit cheering.

The ones drowning out the names of the following kids don’t care.

Sounds like a great multicultural affair

You can't compare a TD celebration to graduation. I have no problem with a TD celebration, but I sure don't want to go to a graduation and have people yelling and acting like they are the only people graduating.
Its 2025. Graduating from college isn't as big of an accomplishment as it was... 2005.. or 1995.. Well.. What I mean, its something that you celebrate after the ceremony. Are you really that excited that you can't control yourself?
I didn't even go to the ceremony. I understand why most people do, but I don't need to have my name announced and be celebrated because I did something I wanted to do.
