getting curiel, jones and monsta onboard while the others maintain will determine how deep of a run we make, if 2-3 pen buys continue growing and step up.

If Jones can be average with his power, we will be good. He is striking out every 2ish ABs. Stanfield or Curiel are usually on for him.

I’d love to know what is up with Jones. I thought opposing pitchers would be terrified of him but he’s striking out left and right.

Feels like Jones is guessing. He isn't hammering off speed or heaters. He will take some off speed, then come out of his shoes on high heaters. Then he hits one 450 feet. It doesn't make sense at all.

Hopefully. He’s batting .206 in league play. Worst among LSU players that play regularly by a significant margin.

I’m not expert, but I think it’s in his head.

He was disciplined, taking walks and batting for average and power early in the year…
Al of a sudden he’s a .200 BA hitter.
What he hits is scorched… but he is chasing a lot.

Trying too hard maybe? I’m just guessing!

Jones was patient last year, this season he’s been too aggressive early in counts and isn’t making contact which is leading to an extremely high rate of 0-2 and 1-2 counts. After that pitchers are nibbling on corners with offspeed.

He’s trying to kill the ball every AB.

The issue is on multiple levels for this line-up.
Curriel became human. Struggling with lefties.
Milam is Austin Nola. Good to great defensively but is not carrying his weight in the line-up.
Dickinson until last night was going as Jones went.
Jones is “hit or swing and a miss”.
Thank God for Big Easy.
Pearson is not great defensively and can’t hit lrighties as good as lefties but way better than Brown vs lefties - Bown is below the e Mendoza line.
Hernandez is solid - not extraordinary at the plate or behind it.
Braswell is coming on. Solid defensively.
Stanfield was supposed to be elite defensively but has been better offensively.

Others have not played enough.

That's the exact same thing that's happening to Milam. Except he isn't striking out a lot. He tries to battle his way back into the count and either makes weak contact, or he flies out.
