Termite Season

May is the month termites start coming out at night but I haven’t seen one swarm this month yet. Has anyone had any activity so far this month? Not complaining.

The termite threads on this forum always hit the same time we get gnat swarms in arkansas.
We also just had our first bloom of winged fireants swarming in unison. That is so bizzare. All of the ant nests send out the males and queens at the exact same time. They mounds look like errupting volcanos. It must be a pheromone triggered event.

Haven’t noticed any swarmers yet in my part of BR. Heard they were bad in New Orleans about a week or two ago, so I’m thinking it begins any day now.
ETA one thing that IS swarming are the Buffalo Gnats. They’re usually not as bad in BR as the rural areas but they’re out in force this year.

Man I went to my storage unit to start packing up turkey hunting shite for the year and when I turned on the storage light, I thought like 100 moths jumped on it first minute but quickly realized they were termites. It was unreal. If u live by USA in Mobile, better be careful. This was one of the storage places right off old shell

Timely thread. I've just spent the last 30min trying to positively identify if the termites I found on my window tonight are Formosan. I'm 90% that they are. First time I've seen them in my area.

Yep. Been swarming around here the last couple of evenings. They love street lights. Clouds of them around every street light.
