GOP and Dem populists unite!

What would be somewhat funny through all of this, is if Pharma just raises their prices to the rest of the world to match the US prices and watch their universal healthcare systems have a come apart
I think this type of regulation is bullshite, Trump or the Dems doing it, but would laugh if that did happen.

I think this type of regulation is bullshite,
They are robbing us blind and charging pennies on the dollar to other nations. Thats the real bullshite in this situation

Absolut. At least some (D)/(R) has the courage to make it so.
In return for the (D) credit, a few other EO needs to codified ASAP as well with (D) help.
Make the deal.

Always comical to see people justify this absurdity

The promise of universal healthcare gets Dems elected. If it gets exposed, Dems are done.
Do it!!

If the republicans try to derail this, standby.

And they will have earned that right to take credit if they get it passed. The EOs don't mean shite if you can't codify anything.

Government mandated price floors or ceilings are bullshite, yes.

Agreed, we have been funding European's drugs for years. Doesn’t change the fact that government dictating prices is bad policy, plain and simple. If the policy was stating that US companies couldn’t pay people less than what Europeans were paying people, would you still think it was good policy?

Now the democrats have done more to codify a Trump EO than republicans have so far

The government has laws in place regarding pricing now, this is nothing new.
Anti trust laws like, Robinson Patman and various other trade laws prevent a consumer company from charging like customers different prices.
We have rent control, ceilings on utility rates, we have a minimum wage.
In this instance we are talking about drugs, some life saving, and the consumer is being taken advantage of. Some of them are patented and they have a monopoly. Ask Standard Oil how that worked out.
If oil companies colluded with distributors and raised the price of gas in the US to 20 bucks a gallon, would that be okay?
Its a good EO, an excellent EO. Now the drug companies can save billions on their lobbying efforts and put that to the bottom line to offset the price gouging. The only losers are the politicians who were making bank
Now lets ban drug companies from advertising......

Doesn’t make it good policy. Excusing bad policy because other bad policy already exists is piss poor logic.

Yep. So why aren’t these being used? Would be a whole lot better than giving government more control to inject their beliefs into businesses. Wouldn’t it be a better practice to direct government resources to investigate and enforce existing laws than it would be to give them more power to dictate how private entities operate?

Its a good EO, an excellent EO.
Not really, but then again I don’t believe in the ends justify the means and change my opinions on what the government should be able to do based on if I like the end result.

Of course not, we have anti-collusion laws. Again, why aren’t we using them if this is happening?
Most here were staunchly opposed to Biden’s EO 14026 for minimum wage increase. If you think that the government should be able to have more power to dictate business practices, that’s perfectly fine, just be consistent in your support of it.

Before going too far... what's the catch?
Does his bill include subsidies to pharma as the way to lower those costs? Betcha that's one of several mechanisms. And they'll hide it in Medicare because CA politicians have learned to hide all kinds of shite in medicare. L
